Re: Rogue

Well there's only been about 1-2 pics with eyes going the same direction. Even on ones that the purchasers are happy with and post pics, you can see the eyes going in separate directions, the skin paint on the eyes, the over application of lipstick...all the usual stuff.

Re: Rogue

I think there's a lot of careful photography justifying their purchase going on too, not all, but definitely some.

Well, to be fair most photos are from 6" away which will make things look worse than they are as Rook (a professional photographer) has said. Now, there are issues but some of them look even worse because you have folks who have the lens right in the statues face.

Re: Rogue

My Rogue arrived yesterday, I'm not thrilled, but it doesn't look as horrible as most the pictures I've seen... What do you all think??

The best way that people without the high end cameras to take pics is from a decent distance and then use software to crop that headsculpt and it will zoom in for yah without distorting and give you somewhat still a decent quality pic. :lecture

Exactly! Then folks can get a good idea of how something really is good or bad.

The Ex head has a koolaid mustache. The normal heads left eye (green) looks bigger than the other one.

You are right not as bad as some of the others.

If you saw it in a comic shop would you plop down 300$ for it? Thats really the only question you need to answer for yourself.

I tried this my pictures were too pixelated to pull this off. I tried it from several distances.

It might be just the camera then. Did you have all these settings going on...

1) ISO low
2) Timer on the shutter
3) Flower setting
4) Tripod

Also sharpening in PS works amazingly.

Re: Rogue

it really does boggle the mind. vampirella is simply amazing by all accounts...and then we have this.

SS needs more competition. Gentle Giant could teach them a thing or two.

Re: Rogue

Yeah, but I can take a pic close up of my other PF's and they don't look bad. How far away is someone supposed to be? When people are looking at my PF's they are pretty close to take it the added detail that is possible at that scale.

No, I wouldn't drop $300 for this, especially since this would make statue #3 that has arrived with horrible paint jobs since i started collecting sideshow last year.

1. carnage (returned)
2. conan the prize (kept with a partial refund)
3. Rogue

Then you've got your answer. "Good one" or not.

Hey Ski I do have a low ISO setting. I'll try that. Either way I think asking me to take a picture from far away is sort of splitting hairs ....

I have a few other PF's I can take a close up of if you'd like. None of them look remotely this poor.

Re: Rogue

:goodpost: Yep..that's called false advertising...Also, Sideshow may have saved a few $ on production..cheap paint, deformed molds, lack of QC..but it planted a seed of doubt in the heart of us, their loyal customers, who used to blindly pay hundreds of dollars for their products, expecting "museum quality high end collectables", and we're now think twice before ordering..not a very smart business plan by SS:lecture

Not really false advertising unless Sideshow knew they were shipping out a bunch of messed up statues. Sideshow has worked hard to build a good relationship with their customers....do you think they would really try to sabotage that on purpose?

I have full confidence Sideshow will take care of their customers. They always have in the past. I am sure they just need to access how wide spread this problem is in order to come up with some resolutions. Worse case scenario - you'll get a refund. But I am hoping they offer replacements as this seems to be a piece that many would like to keep in their collection.

In the beginning before they were notified by the first customer, i agree. But now they DO know what they are shipping out.

I'd like to see SS get their paint apps up to Hot Toys quality. 1/4 statues provide a way bigger canvas to showcase detail in not only sculpt, but also paint. Bucky, Cyclops Ex, and Rogue have all had terrible paint apps compared to what Hot Toys pumps out on a smaller scale. And I don't think that's quite as apples-to-oranges as some might point out.

Everything should be put on hold until they can emulate the German Paratrooper paint app quality on all their products :lol

And they are opening and examining them, if you ask you will see that there is new tape around the styro
We are seeing better ones in the hands of collectors

Ya seeing better ones but still no where near what was we thought we were buying. Eyes are looking straight and not up to the left like it was shown on the pre order screen when i hit buy it now.

Better but still poor looking then what we should have been sent doesnt make it good quality.

You're right but you'd think at twice 1/6 scale that a bigger canvas would provide greater opportunities for detail. But also it's a polystone canvas which can only look so real depending on the paint. It seems the most average HT 1/6th looks more detailed than any PF.
