UGH No New 52!

I love how they all look in JL: War. (Except for WW. Her statue is perfect)

I was watching the Sideshow behind the scenes video that Tested did back in May again and I remembered seeing the alternate headsculpt that everyone seemed to think was going to be a blue Neal Adams variant 7 months ago.

Looking at the facial features and the details in the cowl I'm almost positive this is from the upcoming Arkham PF, and not a Blue variant at all:

yea, im gonna disagree...that's not the arkham sculpt. none of their sculptors would butcher it that bad...its not even close...

That Batman suit makes the least sense to me out of any of them. See I don't mind armored Batman, it makes a bit of sense. I love the classic Black and Grey and even the Blue and grey but I get putting some armor on him. What I don't get from JLA War and the new 52 is how some weird lines across the costume equate armor. They literally took the undies away and drew lines on him.

And the best part of that JLA War picture you posted is how they used shadow to break up the suits in place of the undies. Why? Because they need something to break up the flat color. If the New 52 designers were smarter they would have taken the Arkham suit and just made it cannon. It works, it's obviously armored, there aren't just lines for the sake of lines, but seams where the plates are. It makes sense.

Yeah. That photo shows that. But in the movies, they did not have the shadowing and it looks great. Undies make absolutely no sense. I think superman still has u die lines on his uni atleast.

^^ Ears are too far apart and not long enough to be Arkham ears.

I honestly never looked at the ears, I was just looking at the face itself and the details around the eyes on the cowl. I can still see Arkham City Batman's facesculpt in it perfectly because of how many countless times I've played the game. But whatever.

I was wrong. No Supes undie lines and batman does have the shading often. But no one else.

Well, here's the thing right. The Original suits are designed after turn of the century strongmen, that's where the undies come from. And if they really want to get rid of them that's fine, but then design something that works. Like Superman, A. he's Kryptonian and pretty much indestructible. Doesn't really need armor so the suit can be some sort of dense polymer instead of armor and you're getting rid of the undies right? So B. why not make it one piece, why does he have a belt? What's it holding up? What's it's function? Batman needs belt, he carries things in it. It's why I always thought the pouch belt worked with Batman, it holds items. Superman doesn't need a belt.

I'd love to go to the offices when they're designing these things and just start asking these questions.

I can see where you might see the eyes and such but most batmans have similar creases around the eyes and cowl. You have to look at the overall head shape, the neck, the jaw, and the ears. Those are all significantly different from a sculpting standpoint. I do a lot of digital sculpting for my job and were I to replicate arkham batman in zbrush, it would be far different then the sculpt you showed.

By that reasoning why not just have superman fly around in speedo's .... The new 52 outfit is just a Crest Shield, when he applies it to his chest it creates the Kyrptonian armor, even though on earth with a yellow sun he doesn't need armor it does make sense he would want to wear something from his home world even if it's for sentimental reasons, plus it doesn't burn off reentering the atmosphere..

Again, we're talking alien tech right? So it has to be what we humans look upon as armor? Why can't it be a specially made alien synthetic that coats the skin, form fitting and durable no need for strange armor lines. It makes more sense that an entire suit of armor appears out of chest crest for no other reason than they wanted to draw more lines on his suit.

One piece tights are ridiculously difficult and uncomfortable. So I'm assuming it's a pants shirt combo. How you going to go to the bathroom? Haha. Even kryptonians gotta pee man.

I think the armor lines make it look more professional or authentic to his culture like said before. Kryptonian light armor. Batmans armor ing is perfect now adams. Wonder Woman has taken a step back. Looking less like a warrior, and more like a hipster chick. Green lanterns is pretty much the same, some new lighting, which just looks dope as ****!

Haha flashes looks cool with minor armor too. I think his suit in injustice was awesome, but kind of impractical for someone who relies entirely on speed. I understand he isn't capable of taking as much damage, but I i was flash I would choose light gear so I could move as quickly as possible.

Dude can hold his breath in space, I think he can hold his urine.

See these are these unrealistic standards people are talking about. Bladders are bladders. He can hold it all he wants, but if he gets a gut check from doomsday... Going to be pretty awkward with his piddle stained suit. Think Barry or Hal would ever let that go.

Probably because on Krypton they have a red sun which makes them vulnerable like humans on earth, I'm guessing the armor tiles that make up Kryptonian armor were more protecting then some sort of synthetic paint on the skin....

Nerd talk aside, DC made the change to the suits to make them look cooler and attract an younger audience, after all old timers are just that and won't be around forever, gotta get fresh blood to keep the money rolling in or your business dies... Kids / Young Adults / basically people in their 20's and 30's like what they see in the movies and that's why comics are updating the hero's look... Some will hate it and some will love it...

Well technically with the Flash he doesn't need armor unless the New 52 completely undid Geoff John's explanation of the Speed Force. John's proposed that the Speed Force when in effect created a type of barrier around the Flash when he was traveling at high speeds otherwise when he hit certain speeds no fabric on earth would withstand the friction of the suit against the air, this barrier allowed him to sustain a certain amount of damage at speed without real physical harm. Of course it has it's limitations but still, Probably the best explanation of his powers and it would be a shame if they ignored it now.

So what you're saying is the younger generation like idiotic armor lines with no real explanation? By the way I'm only 35, and the new 52 is crap.
