Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

honestly there is no reason not to keep the EX edition sizes low. If they want to sell 3000 statues they can have 1000 EX and 2000 regs, if they want to sell 10,000 statues they can still have 1000 ex and 9000 regs. If someone likes the statue and can't get the EX they are most likely going to get the reg. If your going to have huge editions of the EX, why bother with an EX at all, just make them all the same.

As long as they keep it low, I'm good. I saw the Reg Vampirella piece in a comic store today and I was like "Damn, why didn't I score the Ex on this piece? She's stunning." It's true, the Ex is a lot more special... not too worried I just hope they keep the Ex Batman ES in check.

Not fussed about the ES really. I collect statues not edition sizes.

Yeah, but it bugs the crap out of me when I find out I could get something later on for a decent amount cheaper than what I paid for it because they made so many of them. I don't mind placing my pre-order but playing games with these TBD edition sizes is just ridiculous when you are asking customers for a 10% NRD.

you have to keep this in perspective too though. as SSC gets more and more popular, there are more and more people entering the collecting arena. so, even though ESs may rise, the % of EXs available shouldnt change that much. therefore, the value shouldnt either. i'm not worried...even 3000 is a small number if you think of how many people actually will want this thing in a few years. of course, i still hope it comes in at 2000.

True but ES 2000? :thwak. It should be same as joker please!

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

^ agreed!
You would be as bad as the freak that did this, entering a cinema with firearms.
Think before you speak.

I did think and from now on I will carry in my local movie theater. Not to derail the thread. Just returned to see people insulting me for me desire to defend against these types of attacks. Wow.

Batman is gonna be amazing isn't he?

You explained it better than I could. And that's exactly it: if they make too many of these they will be not that collectible down the line and pretty much you will be able to get them for cheaper IMO. THAT's the point I was trying to make. But if SS does go crazy for the ES of their new pieces I will stop collecting as many statues. I did get my Ex for Batman and hope his ES is somewhere near or under what Joker was. Keep them "collectible" and I'll keep coming back to SS for more. Mass produce them and I'm gone because then it's just like you're collecting mass produced oversaturated pieces that are everywhere. I saw the Vampirella PF piece today in a store but she was the Reg version and knowing there are 750 Ex + 1500 Reg of her made me say PASS. Now if I can score an Ex on the boards here for her then I'm game. I still think her ES is pretty big too. Anyway, to each their own.

If you're not happy with laying down the NRD without the ES revealed ten I would say don't purchase. Simple.

SS used to reveal the ES. Anyway, I'd be happy with Batman having 1000 Ex and 2000 Reg but we'll see. Yes, I know he's BATMAN but I also know I'm buying from Sideshow COLLECTIBLES not Hasbro or a mass produced company and I just don't want SS turning into that. I'll continue to buy a lot from them if they keep their ES in check on pieces as the company grows. They'll reveal Batman's ES soon enough and we can react then. :rotfl: :slap Goodnight all... stepping off my soap box :dunno

I think you're blowing it out proportion a bit. There's a large difference between a 2000pc ES for an EX of one of the most popular characters in all of Pop culture and Hasbro making 300,000 "limited" figures.

If they keep him to 5 or 6 thousand total figures I don't see an issue.:dunno

its impossible to predict what will be rising in value. Who knew all of us, well us who was kids in the 70's and 80's should have kept all of our Star wars toys in the boxes and made a fortune? I trashed those toys!
I say buy it, enjoy it and dont think value as long as it doesnt decrease - which I'm certain it wont. just my 2 cents.

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

I don't buy to sell at profit I buy because I love.
There comes a time when new must have pieces are released and I need to sell to make room and funds available. It's nice to get your money back or make a few quid profit.
The whole point is exclusivity. Open edition sizes suck!

Well said. I'm into DC these days, some Marvel before that, Uni Monsters before that, etc. When you want to sell to make room for new pieces you just want to be able to break even and not have everyone already have the same piece. All good though. We will learn the ES soon enough. Keep it reasonable SS! :wink1:

Yeah if ONLY I kept all my Joes sealed in their Hasbro packages. I had everything in that line. :gah: :rotfl
