Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

I agree man, that GL just looks so weird! Talk about anatomy issues Spidey, GL's the poster boy. You have that giant head, those crazy abs, strangely contorted delts, puny legs, way too glossy paint, and on and on.
Even with the new pics coming in I personally don't see any improvement. Just a waste of time for us collectors and SSC what with how long goes into development and production on these things.

However these are just my opinions, if you love it I'm happy for you. But I've read some people saying it's "just ok" or "good enough" and they're still getting it! Man that is no way to insure that we always get the best possible product from SSC! :lecture

Tamato you're so right dude.....Sad thing is we won't see another GL PF for years! :thud:

I like that the stance is just THAT much stronger then it was. I am with Geno, and I am considering giving it a shot with a flex pay order. However, tamato might have just helped recrucsh my dream of a complete JLA... And all because I insulted his alien Batman:gah:

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

Spidey, I didn't think you were drinking the GL kool-Aid!
What with all them art smarts you got! :nana:

I am not totally on board, bit the shots do look better to me

This one under normal lighting conditions is the one I am looking at the most, and in the end all you need is one good viewing angle, but trust me when I say I wish the sculptor had not overly "noodled" the anatomy. It is maybe technically right, but far to defined and cut.

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

Do we like comics? If the answer is yes so there is nothing wrong with GL anatomy:) Further I am doing body-building for a very long time and I see so many men anatomically wrong in real life:) When I first watch Conan movie, I thought Arnold was the only man who has a body like that just like in the comics which fascinates me:) I like these heroes to be drawn superior and exaggerated:) A wolverine who has a normal body can't catch my attention:)

There is a difference though ... overblown anatomy WORKS in comics because it is a 2D medium... overblown anatomy on a sculpture looks weird because we all KNOW what the human body looks like. The thing is I like the GL far better then I did, but in the end I may not get him simply because other things are coming out that I WILL want more, and like Kinger I am in the hobby for a long time, so another Hal WILL come out eventually.

The Punisher comiquette's anatomy doesn't make sense and yet people love that piece.

I think the GL anatomy is better than the Pun Com. I just don't like the pose, LC fist and head. So pretty much the majority of it.:lol. But I would buy GL before the Pun Com.

Overblown anatomy works in comics because we've grown up seeing that. I suspect that if we grew up seeing overblown anatomy in sculptures as much as we did in comics it would look just fine. I also suspect that a better done overblown anatomy would have worked just fine on a GL PF, but this one didn't.

I think that's because Punisher is overly exaggerated yes but he is posed in a relaxed position that looks natural.

GL is so twisted and contorted that he makes me sore just looking at him, not sure if he's a superhero or a possessed demon from a horror movie

The Punisher Com also only has his arms and Neck completely visible with the rest of the anatomy being covered by clothing which obscures it. With GL EVERYTHING is out there, every muscles is visible which isn't how most comic book artists actually get the job done. There is a difference Mag... I do like the GL PF more then I did before, but if they had just toned down the ANATOMY a little and grouped some of the muscles a little more with less definition ... I can HONESTLY GL would have been an instant buy. Instead of me thinking about it. I have a good example of it for the Superman PF I will post it up in a bit.

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

I wonder if the active Aquaman pose will help to match the GL PF with the rest of the JL. Maybe the two could act as bookends with the more museum pose guys in the middle. I know the Flash preview was a standing pose and hopefully WW will be also.

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

I don't see how any of the Justice League members can be matched when they are on different bases. Batman is on a gargoyle and Superman is on the fortress of solitude. The X-Men pfs with the X base look great together. The Superman and Batman busts go well because the bases have the same sculpt.

Here is what I mean by less overblown anatomy

The Superman PF on the far right of the screen, done by Andy B, has a more natural looking anatomy that shows the muscle groupings, but not every single muscle in them. It is more subdued and just more appealing to me ... BUT

Like it was mentioned the more natural lit shot of GL seems to mute out some of the anatomy issues for me... like so

It is what makes me consider it at all really.
