Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

I don't own any Bestas or PAX units yet, but it seems that the way to go when collecting SS and 1/4 statues would be a PAX? Any advice? How much does one cost? Which is better between the two? Thanks. BTW, your Bats, Joker and Ivy look incredible together.

Normally Besta's are great for Premium Format. Two PFs can easily fit next to each other. However Batman needs his own shelf in a Besta. The cape is too big. I couldn't get Joker or Ivy in next him no matter what direction they were facing.

Ok, guys...here is my video for the pit surgery. Sorry for my poor video skills...I know my head and my arm are kind of in the way, but hopefully you can see well enough. Also...it's kind of long...just trying to cover everything while I was doing it. Hopefully this helps some of you guys out that are on the fence about fixing yours.

Thanks for taking the time to do that.... I may have to operate soon... :)

I have seen Batman in a Besta with Joker, but he is damn tight from what I remember.... Basically they were almost on top of each other.

JEBUS man why did you not TRY it on the busted body first....:horror

Thanks for taking the time to post this! I liked that you covered some points that Raphael glossed over like futzing the bat symbol and the strength of the fabrictac at the end. You've got the hands of a surgeon. :clap.

I'm still on the fence, but I am starting to waver. I still don't want to be that guy that comes on the forum and says he fracked up his statue.

It will happen eventually, and when it does the sadness that will radiate from this place. Honestly, I am pretty sure I know who will mess it up first if he decides to take the plunge. It would just be his luck. :slap
I would say if someone was going to do this they should have another set of eyes present to see if there is any unintentional bunching and the like. I just know it won't be me....lol.

A second set of hands would be helpful at times, too!

I was thinking that as well considering how STRONG that glue sets... You only get the one chance to get it right. You did a GREAT job Bmutha, and I am so glad you are happy with it finally.

Can anyone confirm if the regular has swap out hands as well. Was thinking of buying some of Spazzy's customs.

I wasn't referring to you m8, but I have admit that I am not surprised that you are heavily considering dong it, but as a fellow international buyer I can honestly say there is NO way I would be doing this one for fear of screwing it up, oh and because I love mine as is. As for the guy I am talking about .... Well EVERYTIME I have heard he has tried to FIX something I don't think it has gone that well...:horror.

:lol :lol just watched Bmutha's vid and although its a great tutorial, the end bit where he was showing the strength of the Fabri Tac glue kinda scared me a little as the fabric ripped!!! :panic: I can imagine that happening as do it using Sideshows glue :horror Definitely this weekend i'll give it a go...although having a phobia of needles isn't the best start! :lol

Who is this mystery bodge job fixer? Name and shame Spidey! Name and shame! :lol :lol

I wish I had the salary of a surgeon, too!

Hopefully the vid helps you decide either way.

Just a follow up with the Fabri-tac glue strength...I played around with it again last night (after I broke it with a hammer). The glue is every bit as strong as whatever glue they use in the factory. But, once you get the first bit to give way, it seems you can peel it away without too much trouble...very similar to peeling the suit off initially around the top edge. I think you just need to get that first piece unglued, and then you can get a bit of leverage.

However, I think I have confirmed that this glue will hold for the long term. It has a very good hold, and you definitely need to apply force to break the bond...I can't see it just failing on its own over time.

After doing this twice, I had very different experiences with the initial ungluing of the suit. The first time I did it, it came off very easily. The second time was much trickier, as that factory worker was very liberal with his/her use of the glue. It was really sopped in there, and the suit was even glued up around the top edge of the "lip". But, with some patience, you should be able to get it off. Use your fingernail or something thin and hard (I used that butter knife from the video) to gently pick at the glue a bit...it'll come off eventually :)

Once you get the suit unglued initially, the rest is pretty straight forward. I definitely, definitely recommend using the glue syringe...it made a world of difference, and it only cost a couple bucks at the hobby store. They are also readily available online if you can't find one locally.

Wow thats great I had given up hope that conversion just stopped. Any idea when they placed on the waitlist?

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

Glad to hear others are converting. The Batarang adds a lot to this statue when you have it in hand IMO.
