I asked them earlier this week about how they decide to break stuff down, this is what they told me.
They have some things they call "key parts" for each figure.

Things that are unique to the figure, generals, it's the head-sculpt, and some other part. when they sell out of the Key parts, the look at how many they have in box, what the demand for the boxed version is, how fast the boxed version is selling vs the parted out version.
if the parted out version is selling faster than the boxed version, they break down a new one.
Generally on Wednesdays.

Sweet! Thanks for the heads up. I'll check on Wednesday.

really dig this figure...

nice outdoor shots:rock

so since i know nothing about guns, i was wondering what is the purpose of the 2 scopes on this gun? why does one flip to the side? can any experts here enlighten me? i wanna learn.

Night vision..

We get issued a similar set up for our M-4. A combat optic (scope) and a night vision scope that can be mounted on the rifle, like Beach's, or on a mount fixed to your helmet

Now you know, and knowing is...well, you can figure out the rest.

Sorry, I added more to the first post.

For the first question, Yes.

For the second. It depends on the mounting system for the scopes. On the M-4 the front sight post is fixed, so it doesn't lay flat. and the rear sight is removed. In a pinch you can remove the scopes and go to iron sight pretty quick.

If you leave them up shouldnt be a deal. biggest benefit to having them falt is that they are out of the way. No snagging on anything. (my opinion anyways)

I am sure someone on here has more knowledge in SPECOPS setups than me. I am just a plain old trigger puller.

Carrying a rifle without covers on the railing system will tear your hands up pretty bad. Our armory is kinda stingy about handing them out with our weapons. My rails wore clean thru my sling on a 6 mile forced march. I like using them to cover any rails where I dont have something attached. But that is usually on Admin(none training movments) like hikes and such..

i see. thanks again for the info. i know nothing about guns or military but am always open for learning.

The rear flip-to-side optic is a 4x magnifier. The front optic is a red dot sight. The PEQ-15 is a red laser with an IR laser and illuminator. All the rail accessories are compatible across all the JOE weapons including the crossbow. Hope that helps!

What is the best way to fix some of the smaller magazine pouches so they stay shut? I got some crappy little pieces of velcro on some of the pouches.

Funny story. My wife had to get some double sided tape for a dress. It is clear and really thin. I thought hmmmm. That dress looks great, babe. Then I thought, oh wait, that tape would work great to keep keep the magazine pouches shut on my Joe figures.

Moral is, you find things that work on figures in the wierdest places.

I thought about the double sided tape but didn't have any on hand so I didn't know if it would stick well with the velcro on the pouches. I will give that a shot then, thanks for a serious response.

you can always get some velcro strips and cut them down. i may do that. my pouches keep popping open too. wish sideshow would fix this. it's been a problem since my snake eyes.
