See, I dunno. If it was a regular military line, I'd expect strict adherence to uniform code. To me it's only worth complaining if you look at the figure and gotta think about who he is. After that, it's simply a matter of bashing them the way you see fit if not satisfied with the out of box figure. And it didn't used to be that way about the black beret. I remember Rangers going ape____ when General ********* decided the uniform was gonna change. Using the black beret for regulars was almost as disgraceful as the ACUs themselves.

Yeah, I remember when they took the black berets away from the Rangers. Those guys were pissed to say the least. They went to Tan in honor of the S.A.S. So in '86, Beach-Head should have had a black beret. However, for a modern figure, tan would be most appropriate. However, the Joe Convention exclusive Tiger Force Beach-Head from a few years ago lists Beach-Head as Special Forces. Arguably, he should have a green beret too.

I agree. It's a very simple matter of kit-bashing. This is such an easy fix, it's hardly even worth calling it "kit-bashing". However, I think the "exclusive" figure could have offered a great solution, because I understand that a lot of fans have no interest in proper military berets and just want Flint to look like the old toy. There's been a bit of controversy about the shot-gun. People have been angry that only the exclusive has the sawed-off shotgun, and I don't blame them. I think every Flint figure should have the sawed-off, and the exclusive figure could have had the Green Beret. I think everyone would have been pretty happy with that.

Good luck. They're ususally easy to find.
Here's a picture of the first Two 12" Flint figures by Hasbro, both have Green Berets.

I've always heard that the first HOF Flint was supposed to be Falcon, but was changed at the last minute to Flint.

Not that it matters though.

But anyway, the original card art/figure designs trump all. Military correct or not.

I'm simply saying that the original card art/figure do not, in fact, "trump all".

Really, one might argue that the idea that the original card art/figure trumps all is merely an argument based on the sentiment of "band wagon" fans. There's been a lot of water under the bridge in the Joeverse since '85. Flint's only worn that black beret a few times. He's worn green and he's worn tan/brown. Sideshow is making one choice from a lot of options in the continuity; I feel that a better and more realistic choice could have been made.

The exclusive has BOTH shotguns. In fact, it's my understanding (at least when it was first announced, and I ordered it) that the Exclusive version is the ONLY one that comes with the sawed-off shotgun.

Correct but there are much better sawed off shotguns out there. This is one exclusive that you could easily pass and give him a better one, especially since you are replacing the beret anyway.

Band wagon fans? That is funny.

SS made the correct choice. Their only fail on the figure is tiger stripe pants and lack of backpack. But those are easy to aquire.

Yeah, I agree. There are lots of better Shotguns out there. I may pick one up, but I also wanted the "official" one as well. And as Evil Face said, he'll be needing a back pack, and I'll probably get him a knife as well.

It is funny. I guess only those who can make diamonds out of coal with their military OCD are true fans.

Good luck. They're ususally easy to find.

I don't want those. You might want to turn on your irony detector.

I guess ur done collecting Joes...

Forever and ever. My dreams have been crushed.

Green Beret?....Pffft.

I eat green berets for breakfast and right now I'm very hungry.

Ironically, that would completely explain flint's look. :lol

I didn't want Flint before they offered him, but he's badass and I can't wait. I don't mind the absence of the backpack either. He looks good without it.

He's gonna be sweet based on what they had at SDCC. Looking at the figs at the booth I tried to start thinking of poses I wanted.

Well, thats your opinion, and you are entitled to it. Most of us feel that the original card art/figure does, in fact, "trump all".

Most of the collectors here are fans of Gi Joe since childhood, how does that make us "bandwagon" fans?

Flint's wore the black beret a few times? Did you ever watch the cartoon or read the comics?

To me, that seems more along the lines of accepting anything Sideshow puts out as a Joe. Most of us were and are still pretty vocal about CCC, as well as Firefly, which would contradict a statement like that. Hardcore, absolutely, but bandwagon, no, considering we're not just "along for the ride."

I don't know if I could come up with a better reason to ignore everything after '85 that's not a Viper, Beachhead, Tunnel Rat or Low-Light.

If that makes me a bandwagoner, so be it. I'd prefer to have ended up on the wagon with the band than have missed the boat completely.
