I called Sideshow today to discuss another matter and inquired about the HAWK situation. I spoke with Eva. Eva is the nice lady who sends out FLEXPAY notice e-mails. :)

Eva told me that if my HAWK heads (I ordered two HAWK figures one reg/one EX) have the same problem then I have to take pictures and send an e-mail to the returns department ([email protected]) and wait about 5-7 business days for a reply.

We'll see . . .

The paint issues are with the light layer coating on top. I recently received an extra HS just to start practicing repainting. It really takes very little to wear it off. A pencil eraser actually takes the dullcote right off and changes the pigment easily. I'm a beginner at the paint stuff so I'm sure this isnt ground breaking news to some.

Is the paint issue with the hair happening as a result of the helmet being placed on and if so do the pads help or is this flaw just happening on it's own or out of the box from natural contact ?

My second question, how do you think SS Hawk measures up to the SS Viper ? Which would you say is a better figure ?

A shot I took recently .

The rubs are on the head out of the box and he isn't shipped with the helmet on as the sealed pics have already shown (which, given you have him you should already know).

Really tough to say if not impossible. I would say pick up Hawk first simply because a lone Viper doesn't look right IMHO. Not to take away from the awesomeness of the Viper but he should be displayed in at least 2s.

The paint probs are really unfortunate because there is insane effort to get Hawks skin as realistic as possible. It's a bummer that it's so fragile that it can't survive Sideshows shipping. Foam inlay would have been nice.

Thanks Adrosi and Nam as well ! I did pick up Hawk first couldn't afford both and I was wondering if I made the right choice. The Viper looks very awesome too but I guess I'll buy a couple later on .

Between Hawk and Viper, there is no wrong choice. They are both phenomenal figures. Each has a plentiful helping of awesome, with only a couple small issues between them. Two of the absolute best in the Joe line.

True. They are not figures you take from the box to the shelf. They need lots of futzin', but that is the fun part of it.

Thanks Guys ! I agree Hawk's one of the best so far and i'm glad to hear he's on par with Viper ! I can now futz in peace lol . I think the Joe Line is the best 1/6th line Sideshow has ever done ! I can't wait for Rock n Roll and Zartan ! :hi5:

No harm in liking it, but did you have to sound so much like a grandma, "Oh sweetie, I like his litte hat so much."........:slap

Again....
