Back when he was a commando who was an expert in edged weapons and various martial arts? Or did you just ignore his file card when you played out your little fan fiction battles as a kid?
Does your love for a scrawny non-martial artist come from Devil's Due or something? You're free to re-invent the character however you like, I'm just curious as to whether you were drawing on a specific non-classic source for inspiration.

Chuck Norris and Steven Seagal also fit that description. Neither is a ninja. I'm not picking sides here, just stating reality.

Why would you want Storm Shadow wearing ADIDAS?
If I understood the Reverend correctly this should allow Storm Shadow to walk through concert doors and roam all over coliseum floors.

And we can only say that because their respective backgrounds are public information. If every movie Norris and Seagal did was "Starring UNKNOWN," and periodicals and the internet had no information on them then ninja training would certainly be consistent with a number of their skills.
You can say, "I liked it when SE was a total mystery" and that's fine. You can't say "I liked him before he had ninja training" because technically that time never existed. His ninja background wasn't a retcon, it was an explanation of the mystery that was consistent with his rare capabilities.

Lose the vest, gloves, and forearm guards and other than the camo pattern and face mask not being spot on you've basically got a near perfect 88 SS.

Near Perfect? I don't think so. Leg armor is completely different also wrong color, waist pouches are missing, backpack is different, claw should be longer, straighter, everything on this is different.
I still like it though.
