I dont understand why SS has such a hard on for batman and not superman. look at the SS PFs for each character. the batman is freaking JACKED compared to superman. its quite a stark contrast. i know batman has had many different comic variations and looks. but assuming that the PFs are coming from the same company as idealized versions, why the heck is the batman so much larger than superman? now they did it again with the 1:6th scale figures.

Well all companies seem to jones for Batman, that's just the nature of the beast lately but I get your point. At minimum Superman should have been the same size as Batman and not much thinner. Batman isn't tremendously jacked but he is muscular and Superman doesn't look even that.

you hit it right on the head, coco. for superhero bodies, i really like this build. ill try to get 3 of the new one.

Not trying to be negative, but those bodies are too wide on the waist and abs and don't really look like they fit for comic superheroes.

The Batman body was so perfect for Superman. Dissapointing

Ya, Batman is DC/WB's cash cow. Just like Wolverine was for Marvel for so many years. Not surprised if SSC would have spent more time/money on development for Batman, as he's simply a bigger selling character.
I will say this though, I think it is unfair to suggest that SSC has not upped their quality along with the price. Over the years I've had the old Twilight Zone figures, some of the old west figures, Sgt Lee Ermy, and the Bond figures, all for relatively cheap purchase price ($65-$85). No one can tell me that their current crop of figures are not MILES ahead in quality than those. Even with the GI Joe line (I'm still hoping for Scarlett), the early Joe's (Hooded Commander/Snake Eyes V1) were really not good compared to the new ones (designs not withstanding). The quality of the figures, the bodies, the sculpts/paints, accessories have all vastly improved in my opinion. Side by side on the shelves, I think that the increased pricing is justified. Not completely (X-Wing Luke, for example). But I don't expect these figures to be less than $150 (in my opinion).

I agree the quality is far superior to what it used to be but they are smoking who knows what over there to think they can charge Hot Toys prices for something like this figure. This is a $150 figure at best, and at that price the flaws of this figure would be somewhat acceptable. At least in my opinion anyhow.

Also I believe the Sideshow GI Joe line is over so I'm afraid your probably unlikely to see Scarlett anytime soon.

I snagged an extra SS Batman body from TA and have a TTM20 and a MOS Supes body on the way. I'll probably order one of the Kaustics from Monkey Depot and then try them all out to see which is best.

I used that body on one of my spare Reeve suit. The Reeve suit is the reason I am not too impressed with Sideshow's version as it can be easily used for a comic version. Here's a poor pic with my MoS.

BTW - Here's the Kaustik posed as the Sideshow box art. So Definitely if I were buying this figure and making it look great, I would replace the body with Kaustik, hoping the head would fit in scale. Then I would change the cape attachment so it clips on the inside instead of hooking underneath and it should look great. And I might change the belt, too.

Nice pictures. I'm putting a KPO3 body in a HT Superman suit. How did you get the belt to fit the KP02 waist? Also, where did you get the Cavil head sculpt? That one looks more in scale.

Have you seen that for sale anywhere?

Loads on Ebay.
But the general price is $130... And you'd have to chop the head off(If i am correct, and i might not be about it being that statue).
A better option would be to buy the ML Cavill sculpt. I have three of them and i think it's a good likeness(Plus, it's more in scale with other HT offerings).

I'm not saying i prefer it to the HT, but if you want a replacement that is slightly smaller, it might be the best option.

just stumbled across a mattel 12" reeve superman in the closet that i had totally forgotten about. anybody think this could work with one of the SSC sculpts? I'm thinking about trying the angry head on the mattel body and suit.

yeah i think with a little work it could definitely work ,the mattel suit is really nice and versatile with regard to stretch and fit ,the mattel body is not great but serviceable ,has good upper body size and ok legs ,but is comically thin in the waist ,but thats easy to pad out ant the tension of the suit makes for a nice transition from chest to waist ,here one i padded out when they first came out ,i used a sheet of thin foam rubber cut in the waist and crotch section ,,you could use thigh extenders if you think there necessary ,i vote yes ,give it a shot :wave

Thanks for the feedback. I agree, the more I look at the body next to ssc batman this could work. I also agree about padding the waist out. Never done that before but hopefully I can figure something out that looks good. I'm definitely adding the extra muscle to the thighs also. I'm going to start on this today. I'm actually looking forward to ssc superman again now :). I could end up with 2 new superman figures.

Yeah. That is a nice sculpt. Unfortunately, I can't paint and the painted version cost a bit too much for me to purchase just a head.

It looks like a casting of the iconic statue maybe.

yeah i took a quick mold of the iconic to get a quick cast off it. I didn't want to cut it off and ruin a good statue. And the belt doesn't fit the Kumik. I just wired it together at the back but I don't see it and forgot all about it until you asked. Lol.

can i assume that HT Superman Christopher Reeve is still the best representation of superman 1/6 in the market?

thats the spirit lol ,turn those lemons into lemonade
im looking forward to getting mine as well ,and seeing all the mods and tricks the guys on here come up with ,exciting times for comic book supes fans for sure it should and could have been near perfect out of the box but im sure some will make it look perfect by their efforts ,and the extra heads really open some possibilities for kitbashed extra figures ,post pics of your progress with the mattel body ,be careful with the velcro on the back of the suit ,it can wreck the finish of the suit fabric ,pulls and snags ,i found out to my cost ,i now use a bit of spare velcro pushed on to the hook, rough velcro side of the suit ,works like a charm

just a thought but maybe you could give bats the mattel body and use the mattel suit on the bats ssc body with your extra head for supes,if you did and wanted to upgrade the mattel boots ,i know the man of steel boots fit the ssc bats body
