There is a very possible $100 difference between this SSC STAR WARS figure, and what the price would be if it had been an HT STAR WARS figure. You want HT quality at SCC price, and we are the ones being unrealistic?

:rotfl :rotfl :rotfl
This was the next point i was going to make too.
It's half the price of what a HT version would cost anyway so you can't expect the exact same quality.

You are a laugh. Are you so narrow minded as to believe that if people disagree with you it must surely be because they are lying to themselves. Wow. That is the height of arrogant disillusion and *********ery. Congrats. :hi5:

Pixel I always thought u were a good guy guess I was wrong! Childish name calling over the inter web your so cool! Congrats sir! Enjoy your sub par sculpt scrub!

I never asked anyone to agree with me. Its even stupid for U to argue becuase the truth of matter is there is lots of great sculptors that can do much better than what is being offered here by SS.

And the reality is so long as u guys by these **** sculpts Now SS has an exscuse to take more of our money in 5 years when they feel like the can make a better figure!

U wont be seeing any more remakes of bespin luke! Why cause the figure is good and the sculpt is great. I can live without hot toys paint apps but the sculpts need to get better period.

Regards Yourmaster

Funny how u got 2 figures with the hot toys release! And a huge dio So if u think SS cant match the quality for not much more price your sorely mistaken! Your argument is not valid try again!

That's not really a valid argument though. A substandard headsculpt is a substandard headsculpt? If this was a 100$ more expensive HT release, you would probably have gotten a giant beautifully designed box of goodies as well as the figure? Part of the Theed hanger/base maybe? Leather belt maybe? A real hair jedi braid even? Nope, just a standard cheapo box, same as every other SS release.

The value for money argument doesn't hold water, especially when compared to HT, which many seem to be going as a matter of SS defence, truth is, this isn't as good value either.

Not always Sideshow's fault with this one. I still remember the superior Bespin (for their Bespin Luke) Luke sculpt and Windu which wasn't approved by LFL.
I don't think the sculpts really need to get better, but the paint does. The majority of human's were ruined with substandard paint. Thinking primarily about the Luke and Han Troopers.

With this the paint seems better and, to me, it's a good sculpt of Kenobi. So I'm happy to have it.

The sculpts have to get better. The paint too but the sculpts really don't cut it for this day and age. A very good sideshow sculpt like Old Ben repainted can be super great looking but still a cartoony bobblehead... I love my small painted TT old Ben, but he doesn't look good next to a HT that's for sure.

If you don't want to own HT Luke to pose next to other sideshow offerings or just consider them seperate animals that's fine. But price is not an argument here, sideshow figures used to cost like 60 bucks now well over the hundred mark and only marginal improvements, no excuse if you ask me.

beside hot toys luke how many other figures have ht made where theyve offered two figures for $299, its not standard practise...I think most people would agree it was very generous with their first sw release and there has been no promises of them doing the same thing again.
When hot toys start selling all of their figures for $149 of the same quality they have now then maybe you might have a valid argument.

These arguments are getting tiresome. I boils down to one thing...If you like it buy it and if you don't, then don't. No company is perfect. There are plenty of critics for HT's products. I agree that the paint apps are the weakest part of SSC's 1/6 line. LFL has also had a hand in rejecting some great sculps from SSC.

Lets be honest ht paint Apps Are fantastic but on a pure likeness issue some of there sculpts are unbelivably good some are t as good.

Ssc too have bad awesome sculpts and least awesome ones but generally - until recently they paint was very far behind. The clones Bly Etc seemed better and I heard the gijoe paint is good.

Ssc are creeping up their prices but ht has as well.

It's horses for courses folks

The difference is sideshow is creeping up to early hot toys prices with about 60 percent the quality of early hot toys product. I don't have much respect for sideshow because of this.

Umm. I can't really comment on that. The earliest hot toys output I had "in hand" was the t800 endo and of course that didn't have any human faces.

The earliest Ssc I bought was Buffy and the early Star Wars and the paint and headsculpts look pretty bad now.

What was the first hot toys stuff?

How about this as an example.

Kyle Reese.

Gipetto made a great point in that sideshow has many other scales / formats they work on, not just 1:6.

Back to obi. I cannot wait!!

I'm waiving on this one. Might have to pick it up as a whole rather than just a headsculpt.

About those issues.. Giraffe neck, likeness, light up saber, hot toys better, etc etc etc, whatever.. I don't care
The most important to me now is I will recreate that iconic "Battle of the fates" scene in 1/6 version, in the near next days !!!
:rock:rock:rock

Just quick shot in my house, tomorrow wil bring them to my photo studio :)

If you have visited my thread "1/6 star wars photography", you know why I'm so excited :), wish me luck !!!

More pics man! Want to see the battle!!! :)

And here I thought it got lost in the "HT is better" arguments :lol

For me this argument has nothing to do with Hot toys! Rater sideshow need to step up there sculpts! The only hottoys peace i have in my collection is one HT Luke head.
