I think the color of the jacket is okay. In all those pictures there's so much light coming from the back it's hard to tell what color it actually is. I do agree it is a bit tooclean. I also agree that dirtying it up with a drybrush/airbrush will do loads to make it look more screen accurate.

As far as making him shorter, what about just taking the boots off and removing the feet? You should never see his boots anyway. I'm not sure how much shorter it will make him, but I'm going to try that idea first.

Here's my look at the new Zuckuss figure. Great to finally complete the ESB bounty hunters, and Sideshow have done a pretty good job! The jacket scares me though!!

In the movie the jacket also seems to have had a silver overspray, which may suggest the jacket is lightened up by a slight silver sheen.

I took off the boots to drop him down a bit. Gonna try to find some polystyrene square tubing to put over the peg to give him some support

Interesting about the shin armor.

Wonder how you undress him to make him fatter? Looks like everything is glued shut.

Yeah, I was just thinking the same thing. Significant that they did the same shin armor as the newer hasbro 4" figure, which also has the chocolate brown coat and more orangish armor. That probably confirms the color variation is a LFL mandated thing - they have a design template for all characters that all manufacturers must follow, regardless of how the character appears onscreen.

As I mentioned, both the Koto and GG statues of Zuckuss have the same chocolate color coat and also the boxy/indented toes boot style. Seems odd that all these companies would independently make pretty much identical design choices.

I will admit though - Zuckuss looks cooler with this newer color scheme than he does in the movie, so I can understand why they did it.:dunno

True.

Honestly a few times in Khai's review with the hard light the robe almost looked like it could become the correct color, I think your comment about the silver overspray might be correct -- or if not certainly a good excuse.

Is the little "bottle" hanging off his head clear glass-like? Almost appears metallic on this figure.

If it isn't clear, it's possible that the LFL design template allows for it to be silver to make it easier to manufacture.

It's not clear. It is painted metallic.

That's a bummer (it's definitely supposed to be clear/glass) but as I said, given the way the component is designed, it would be complex/expensive to make it clear surrounded by the solid "melted wax" parts.

Making it metallic means all SSC had to do was just sculpt the one piece and simply paint the "bottle" part silver.

Always appreciate these reviews...always thorough and well done. Stoked to be getting mine tomorrow.
Interesting to see all of the little details they packed into old bug head.. Thanks for the look!

Hmm, do you think my lighting is too bright? Some have told me it's too dark, but my white background doesnt really help things. I tried a black background and that didnt seem to help any. Some natural light would be best for reviews I think, but just not feasible for when I actually have time to do videos after the kids are asleep!

No, no, no, that's not what I meant. Too bright is like Optibotimus' videos. Sometimes it washes things out. Yours has a nice balance I think.

What I meant was that the shiny material of the robe sometimes caught the light in your video and reflected it in a way that made parts of the robe look lighter -- more like Zuckuss looked in the movie. So it occurred to me that maybe it was the hot studio lights that made "real" Zuckuss look much lighter than the actual screen used costume. Maybe.

Ah, good to know lol!!

I think on stage lighting and also post-production colour timing can do a lot of things to the way clothing is perceived. The Han blue/brown jacket is one crazy example lol!! :D

Just arrived! :woo

Looking at this photo... might be a bit off topic. Does anyone think we’ll ever get a Bib Fortuna v2? Maybe some day HT will do a Jabba and then they might feel like they have to do Bib... but I wish that someone would do a custom coat for him for now. Made of thin velvet - would resemble the look on screen. The one he has is way too bulky because of the thick fabric they used. I have used some water treatment and repainted the eyes, but I still would love to have a v2 or just a new coat...

I was looking at Greedo myself.... wishing HT would get to aliens so he could be done.

My gut is that HT is fast approaching a Jabba build... and of course you can't do him without a few aliens. Like his majordomo.

Yeah, it really does. I though you could slip off the shoulder part and pull down, but nothing wants to move.....not gonna risk it.

Looking at the few scant color pics online, the robe is brown, but does have a lighter brown/silver/yellow wash. Or it could be from the movie lights, as has been suggested. Guess its gonna come down to personal preference. And the pleather parts just need a dark brown wash.

So there's no way to "fatten" him up? That's too bad. I think shortening him a bit (even if just bent legs) and giving him a little girth would add much to the variance of shapes among the bounty hunters.
