But if you fall you die. Your one shot at existence gone (as far as my beliefs anyway) How can he know that his fingers won't slip on the particular part of the girder he holds onto? How can he know that his hand won't cramp suddenly or something? Just unbelievable. And what do you bet he's a dad too?

I totally know what you mean. But I guess it is the same with extreme sports. Some people do things that can kill you for fun. It's like Russian Roulette, I had someone close to me die because he was playing that. I don't even understand why would anyone do something like that.
