Which one's which? Is DannieDarko the master or the apprentice?

Josh: I think this is the end of the road for Weta Workshop and SSC. Weta partnered with Dark Horse Comics for Kong and Narnia...so I think it will be a safe bet Weta won't be partnering with Greg Anzalone again for The Hobbit.

Yeah, I mean for Weta to do them by themselves if they have to but I'd really like them to finish the line. When the Hobbit comes around if they wanna do it by themselves thats cool.

I have to admit to being impressed. I knew that as a bust collector I was going to be disappointed, but this sucks way more than I'd ever have thought. Finally an announcement by Sideshow that truly has me baffled.

Yeah, I'm really upset... all that time spent collecting seems wasted given how incomplete my display cabinets are going to look. I just can't take my set of 40+ LotR busts seriously if they don't even include Eowyn and Faramir... especially while I have a whole shelf of Orcs (of which three are wounded) and another shelf dedicated to the Last Alliance. They made almost as many busts based on the prologue as on the entire last two movies for crying out loud.

Well, I suppose there isn't much left to do now... sooner or later I'll want to sell off most of my busts and just keep the Fellowship and another handful, but that can wait. Just maybe someone else will continue with similar collectibles or perhaps a movie of The Hobbit will resurrect the SSW line. I guess these things hold their value well enough so I needn't rush into anything.

But damn, does this suck. First the medallions, then the weapon sets and now all the other lines. Even the helms which just need the Uruk-hai soldier helm(s) to be fully complete. What a shame after so many dodgy choices to not have some of the major stuff. It feels as if I'm watching RotK and they cut from Frodo entering Shelob's lair to the Grey Havens scene.

I think they will need a distributor, as Sideshow was for the LOTR line. Going solo will be very difficult, if not impossible, I'd imagine. I may be wrong.

Well, they are using Darkhorse for the Narnia and Kong stuff so maybe thats who they will use.

Thanks to Sideshow*Weta for an incredible product line!

I also have a few more I would like to see, I know everyone does.

But what we have is spectacular and I applaud them.

The announcement is a shock certainly. I was really excited at first, because I definitely wanted both the PJ and the Mumak. The reality of the product line ending sinking in as Chris made his announcement is a bit of a downer though, for sure. I am glad they announced it now though, simply because everyone was assuming Comic Con would be huge, and to have waited until then to announce fewer pieces than expected AND the end of the line would have been worse.

So, finally we reach the end :thud :thud I must say I expected the final announcement at SDCC, not like this I'd like to echo what several peeps have said, there shoulda been a representation of Denethor and Faramir :bang An Eowyn bust woulda been brill too!!


But, we've had some great stuff from SSW, and I'd like to thank them for all the happiness they've bought me (and my visa) Good luck in all your future endeavours SSW - you've make an old Tolkien fan very happy

Haven't they heard over the last year or so, we want a Faramir! I still can't believe it........I don't know what else to say.......I'm stunned.

too many orc busts in the line....they should've put their focus on the main characters first. They probably thought that they would have enough time to issue them all. But at the end reality comes and it was too late. Just my guess otherwise I can't think of a logical explanation of missing so many important people in the lineup.

I think they've just ran out of steam, and being focused on other projects.

The wounded orc bust, Rohirrim bust, muzzle cage orc helm, flight from Isengard, all the recently released environments, are all OLD STUFF!

Sideshow has dusted them off, and released them.

WETA has only sculptered a few recent pieces - namely, PJ, Mumak, KotD, LegGimli, Aragorn@BG, Galadriel, Attack Troll... prob a few more... and that's it!

Oh... and the helms - they've been going strong, but from memory, they are made by different WETA artisit(s).

Not a lot of work for WETA to have done in the last year - all based on WETA moving on to more 'interesting' projects for them, I guess.

I am really looking forward to an official comment on why these CRITICAL characters have been ignored! :x
