If nothing else, I would just love for 1 Rambo from all 5 films. The one thing I've wanted most in my collection since the days of the Hot Toys line was a complete figural representation of the series, ideally from one company. Hot Toys only did 1-3, Enterbay only did 3, Sideshow only did 2, NECA only did 1 and 2, ThreeZero is only at 1 and 3 so far.

Couldn't agree more. The random offerings from the series has been a point of frustration on my end as well - makes zero sense.

HIYA seem to commit to a line when they announce, from what I've witnessed. I don't personally own any of their figures, but given my fondness for both 1:18 scale & John J., I see that changing very quickly - they don't appear to be "one-offs" when they start a series.

they cancelled the Night Assault version in the black tanktop & headband
Those Rambo figures from NECA were the first ones that seriously introduced me to figure collecting. I have all the ones that were released in the series, but the last movements with the character were erratic. The first version of Rambo-FB2 came without the bow, which they later decided to add (in red) in a version with video game colors and later, already in black, in the exclusive edition of 2015 tribute to Force of Freedom (which by the way did not correctly represent the appearance of the character in the series: for example, the headband should have been red). They had considered the tanktop version ("Bow Attack"), but ultimately didn't release it recognizing that Rambo didn't sell as well as other characters. I remember that there was a little debate about whether the character's time had passed, but there were also doubts about the policy that NECA had followed with the form and order of its releases.

Though my hobby is collecting 1:6 figures, my genre/theme for 1:6 figures are based on comic books, films, certain celebrities, appealing/beautiful women, niches, video games, the military, etc.

Moreover, I collected comic books, a variety toys, video games, etc. typical of "collectors"/"hobbyists" in general.

I don't have one specified/true discipline when it comes to 1:6 except an affinity for 1:6 female figures.

I like Sly Stallone characters from films (i.e., Cobra, Rambo, etc.), but it's not an absolute like say Ash Williams from Evil Dead where the character truly means something to those who appreciate/respect the character as a pop culture icon in the same way some may view Stallone's Cobra, Rambo, etc.
I do more or less the same thing, rotating my fields of interest over time (for some time now I've paid special attention to the military again, with several brands launching good pieces), and also adding other scales with regard to collecting figures (I think almost all scales up to 1/6, in fact). Regarding Ash, I'm really sorry about what happened with Asmus..........

You know.

Why can't Hasbro get the license for Rambo and assign it to the design team for GI JOE CLASSIFIED?

We can then get a 1:12 Rambo figure stylized like GI JOE and end up in an exclusive distribution/retailer arrangement that'll screw over the majority of collectors.

EH , , ,

No need to apologize. It's not the first time a brand totally ruined a beloved pop culture icon.

What happened to the luxury figure of Ash Williams is totally on the brand, but they got away with it again.

I'm still upset about how Executive Replicas totally ruined Bettie Page with their hideous design when they made 1:6 figure(s) of her (not the fault of PHICEN/TBL).

I like the Neca Rambo figures. They nailed the hair. :lol But you know what bothered me about the part 2 version, the knife, the blade was entirely silver, instead of black. I couldn't believe they didn't care enough to give his signature weapon the right color.

Yeah, that was very disappointing. It's a detail that they were able to take care of easily, even more so considering that when they want they pay a lot of attention to the details in their figures. I think they didn't take care of this Rambo line enough.

Did you know that back in the 80's they were going to put Rocky in the GI Joe line, not the Green Beret who was a pop culture action icon of the 80's, but instead, a mentally challenged boxer.

I like how they still gave the figure and the artwork the Rambo headband.

I remember that at a time when I was really into GI Joe, there was a certain consensus that Spirit Iron-Knife was the basic figure to make a Rambo custom on the scale, although its most obvious resemblance is with Billy from Predator...

Yep.

If I remember correctly, The GI JOE: ORDER OF BATTLE limited series (four issues) by Marvel Comics covered the roster of active/known (up to the time of publication) GI JOE and COBRA characters along with primary equipment and vehicles.

Issue #2 or #3 had the file roster for "Rocky" where he is a trainer for the team focusing on endurance/stamina due to his renowned boxing skills, etc.

I believe there was some bruhaha due to the inclusion of Rocky that was not officially endorsed/licensed by the IP owners and there was a retraction statement made by Marvel Comics and the TPB that collected the series omitted Rocky from it.

How do I know the preceding?

I collected and read the GI JOE comics from the period (along with the toys).

Christ. I actually remember all this considering my age.

In the absence of great news about these figures, I've developed a formula to calculate the approximate final amount of the purchase in a country that I know from the EU (taking into account that the SSS has not implemented the IOSS system):

[{(Price of the figure: €227.20 + Standard International Shipping: €20.20) + 2.5% duty: €6.20} + 21% VAT: €53.30] + Postal company management: €30.00 approx. = €336.90 TOTAL ($385,2)

And if you decide to choose express shipping, it would look like this:

[{(Price of the figure: €227.20 + Express Worldwide Shipping: €59.14) + 2.5% duty: €7.16} + 21% VAT: €61.63] + Postal company management: €30.00 approx. = €381.13 TOTAL ($435,77)

Tempting...

I can buy at least two to three regular (i.e., non-HOT TOYS) boxed figures or at least one premium (i.e., HOT TOYS) boxed figure for the amounts specified.

Better yet, for the amounts specified I can have a pretty good weekend in Las Vegas partaking in the usual vices.

Agree! And Las Vegas option would allow us to share photos on Instagram that would rival those of the agent in sophistication and bottles of alcohol...

Yeah not cheap to get it to Ireland.

It is clear that today it would be impossible to propose a children's/youth animation series like this. I've seen documentaries in which even then it was surprising that a character like Rambo ended up being a sales phenomenon in products aimed at the little ones (lunch boxes, toys, etc.).
That’s because Boomers and Gen Xers were a lot more chill than the overly sensitive and uptight Millennials and Gen Zs, who seem more prone to Cancel Culture and unjustified outrage due to how something makes them FEEL.

Interesting approach. Sociological changes that have possibly come from the hand of an increasingly overprotective education. I think a few days ago they have banned the reading of the comic Maus in a school because it includes a couple of swear words and a nude. General trend seems to be pushing us to be like the humans on the ship in the movie Wall•E.
