I hope to be able to replicate this poster on my shelf...just add a pinch of Arnold.

Re: Stallone`s new movie "The Expendables"

AKA manly movies, lets face it, the "80's cheese" movies were probably the best examples of how to make a man movie :lol

Re: Stallone`s new movie "The Expendables"

You gotta love Sly for bringing back some 80's cheese. :clap

I love Sly as a filmmaker in his old age, he's doing a lot of projects that are just really enojoyable. He gave us a close to the Rocky franchise that's worthy of how that all started, he gave us a Rambo the delivered, in my book, the best film in the series, he's just got a lot of good ideas for films for these characters and genres.

I've loved the concept of Expendables ever since I leaned of the project because I knew he was just going back to what they're all famous for and that's the type of movie I love and the type we really don't get from these new guys. I think Stathams a cool actor but even his films are a modern style of action, I just can't think of any movies in the last decade or so that have been the sort of over the top, explosive, one liner riddle roller coaster rides that 80s action movies were. I hope this is the start of a revival, and I mean new movies in the same style, I don't want to see Commando the remake or any of that sort of thing.

Very well said, they just don't make em like they used too, and expendables looks to break that mold by being an awesome tribute of sorts to all the movies i grew up with. Lots of honorable mentions though.

He is a true entertainer ............. an entertainer to the fullest imo. I respect his direction very much. Plus i'm sure he'd have a hard time just walking away and focusing on being a producer or director full time. Sly needs to always be in the spotlight. This film WILL be very fun.

Re: Stallone`s new movie "The Expendables"

What I respect about him with Rocky and Rambo and now this movie, is that I've yet to feel like he's desperate to still act or looking to make more money, with each of these I feel like he has a very good intention behind making them. With Rocky, he knew people disliked 5 as the finale to the series and wanted to end it on a high note, and he did and I'm so glad he was behind doing that. With Rambo, he loves the character and felt there was one more story to tell and he also wanted to take the character back to reality from the more ego driven absurdities he took Rambo 2 and 3 with the shirtless antics, and again he delivered. I think they both could have flopped in the box office and he wouldn't have cared, he just wanted to tell those new stories and did it. Granted, Rocky had to succeed because if that really bombed, Rambo'd probably have been scrapped because it would potentially hurt that franchise and I don't think he'd want to hurt both of his big characters. With this movie, I still don't think he's out for the money, I think he just wants to have fun and I think when we see this, we'll walking away believing that because the movie'll be a lot of cheesy fun and his enthusiasm for doing that will come through in the entertainment of the movie.

Re: Stallone`s new movie "The Expendables"

Was previewing the score from Brian Tyler last night on iTunes, without context I'm not like uber excited but it sounds of a similar quality to the Rambo score, so I think once I see the movie and can realyl visualize what the music is about, I'll really get into it, with Rambo, I could just imagine what's going on to the tracks before seeing the movie based on trailers and past Rambo movies, but where this is all new, I just here nice music but I get more into scores when I like the visuals they go with.

Re: Stallone`s new movie "The Expendables"

I like Brian Tyler. He's awesome imo. His AvP-R score was rocken.

Re: Stallone`s new movie "The Expendables"

It took me a bit to open up to the music not being Goldsmith's work for Rambo, but Tyler did a great job of adding to the Rambo body of music and being faithful to the stuff done before, I love the score, it ties for my favorite Rambo score with First Blood Part 2. Expendables sounds very similar and I think it'll rock. Be curious to see if there are any single themes within it or if it's more just a full body of work.

Re: Stallone`s new movie "The Expendables"

I love his theme he came up with. The last track gave me chills.

Re: Stallone`s new movie "The Expendables"

Yeah Maulfan Tyler is growing on me as far as making really good movie score's. I also really love what he did with the Rambo score, and another one I like is the "War" soundtrack he worked on.

Re: Stallone`s new movie "The Expendables"

What I like about him is that he seems to get the notion of using the music to really compliment the scene and undscore specific things that happen. Some scores today tend to almost get into a generic realm where it's just music filling in the audio space but it doesn't have weight to it.

Re: Stallone`s new movie "The Expendables"

Great line up of actors but I think personally that its a case of too many cooks.
Might go to the cinema to see this but am not expecting to be blown away.
Stallone and the rest are too old to be doing this now.
It's like watching muhammed ali get his brains bashed in.
Sometimes it's best to quit while your ahead and bow out gracefully.

Mickey rourke gets better with age though love that beat up tramp;)

Re: Stallone`s new movie "The Expendables"

I read that they're already talking about a sequel depending on how well this is received in the theaters. I know I'll be seeing it at least twice so every ticket helps!!!!
