Is Q no more as per last season?

You would think that given what is at stake and their lack of knowledge around the situation that they could’ve gained some insight by transporting Picard’s body over to the Titan for Crusher to examine before Seven decides to destroy the Shrike
Sorry when I mentioned Q, I meant it as in the past, before he passed last season.

I would assume they got Picard's body back prior to leaving the Shrike. They were able to transport out so I am assuming they could have done the same for the body (the smart thing to do in this case). If they didn't, then it would have been an oversight by both the characters and writers.

Only just got around to watching episode 8 - pretty good although I too was confused as to why Raffi went in fighting with swords and why the baddies indulged her and didn't simply shoot her as they had anyone else.

I enjoyed Seven of Nine's delivery of her order to fire on the Shrike. Just sounded good.

And again it's about damn time they paid more service to Data and Geordi's friendship, which generally went missing in the movies. And then a lovely scene with the TNG crew all together again. It's probably fortunate that they're all still alive for that to happen.

My jury is out on the Jack thing. Hopefully they have something good otherwise I will find myself lamenting why major character's sons or daughters can never seem to be just ordinary people in this genre. They always seem to have to be a prodigal child.

I still don't know what the deal was with those henchmen of hers, and why they spoke in that weird alien language and never used their changeling abilities in battle. Hell I'm not even sure if they were changelings.

Yeah didn't like that either. Right when they were making me like her more after the mess she was in Season 2 they do that WTF scene. Two steps forward one step back.

And I think budget was why they didn't have them fight like Changelings.

But now you have me thinking...if they were Changelings, bladed weapons wouldn't work on them. Maybe they weren't. Even if they were mutated Changelings, they are fluid, and their pretend organs are just that, pretend. If they get stabbed through the chest like that one did by Worf, they should of just morphed out of it.

Quite a good collection of references both past and present to support the Borg theory here. I’m not sure if they’ll go that route because of Season 2 but they have been foreshadowing a Borg element.

If Alice Krige reprises her role that would be a surprise.

Hopefully Lizzo makes an appearance.

I didn’t get this until now as I’ve been behind in Mandalorian… that’s Kurtzman quality writing right there.

This last episode....

I'm a bit disappointed by what Jack's mystery was, but it fits.

Of course it is the Borg. But how they've assimilated Starfleet was good and novel. So I have mixed feelings. I didn't want it to be the Borg, but it just feels right for it to be the Borg.

Seeing the Enterprise F gave me goosebumps. It was one of my favorite ship designs in Star Trek Online, and I used several of its variants in the game extensively. I wish they showed more of its bridge because in the game, it had a unique two-level bridge.

Shaw.... Why'd they have to kill off Shaw.... I wanted a Shaw and Seven show!

Lastly, the D. The Galaxy class is to me tied with the Constitution Refit in terms of the best looking Enterprises. They did an awesome job making the bridge look almost exactly as it was in the 80's show, while at the same time giving it a sort of shine that made it look great in the modern screen. I had a lot of goosebumps as they took the ship out of spacedock . I wish they gave a few more beauty shots of it. It was awesome.

I knew Shaw was going to die, they've been dropping hints for the last 2 seasons about Seven as a potential Captain. You just knew Shaw was going to die, leaving her the Conn and calling her by her real name. It was the perfect ending to that story arc.

I really thought we would see the Voyager and Defiant ships also used as part of this resistance. Maybe in the finale with Tuvok on board. I think he might end up mind melding with Jack to save him like he did with Seven.

As someone who hasn't seen much of TNG, I had no idea who Shelby was. The Enterprise D looked pretty great though.

I think we might see the final ending of The Borg in the finale. This is how they are defeated once and for all.

This episode was 😘 chef’s kiss!

Ok the Star of this episode was clearly the D showing up, but that Shelby cameo was so cool and fitting.

I was disappointed that it was the Borg I wanted something different. That said they did the Borg so right better then Picard season 2, better then Voyager, this felt like Borg back in their prime.

Jack running off like that felt odd but I head canon it as him being under the Queens influence

The D. As much as last episode made me happy with the crew around a conference table again, seeing the D, the bridge, and everyone taking their old stations lure nostalgia…if that didn’t make you feel something then you are not a Trek fan. Especially the classic zoom in of Picard as he says Engage and does the hand movement.

I said in another forum post that I find it funny that Star Trek is able to give fans exactly what they want, the band back together and going on a adventure, where The Star Wars sequel series never did that, it just killed them off. I think the plot with the Borg able to control the young and it’s going to take the old to save them is a message about that. Just because a hero is old it doesn’t mean it needs to be discarded and replaced with a new shiny. Sometimes old is exactly what the story needs.

Have to say - I enjoyed episodes 1 through 7 more than the last 2.

8 & 9 seemed a little anti-climactic . . . massive buildup but little payout really (although I did prefer the assembling on the bridge in E09 to the sit-down in E08).

A few great "funnies" - Data's "more positive" remark about "Hope we die quickly", Worf's "that wasn't my fault", and the "carpet" line amongst them :)

Still don't understand (yet) why Jack was so important . . . if they were able to infect all of Starfleet under 25 with what they got from Picard's organic body - why the need for Jack?

I'd been holding out hope that the real baddies were the Jem'Hadar, having finally turned the tables on the changelings - would have MUCH preferred that to the (yawn) Borg yet again.

Hush you didn’t get Lizzo stop complaining.

Picard's DNA was a "receiver", and explains why he could still hear the Borg in First Contact. Jack was a transmitter.

So via the transporter system, everyone's DNA was modified to include the receiver DNA from Picard. This only affected people under 25 because their frontal lobes have not fully developed. The Borg then needed Jack in order to transmit/control all these people.
