Rewatching this, Hayden really brings a lot of power to his saber fights. Baylan looked powerful with his huge swings and seemingly very heavy saber. Hayden though just moves like an athlete. His footwork was really great too and this is what sells the choreo for me.

That’s why I say I’ll take his style of sword play any day than wildly swinging the thing like baseball bat. It wasn’t just twirling his saber he had a unique form in the way he fights. It’s both flashy and powerful

Wait so this is a continuation of rebels? I don’t really know much about that show.
Yep watch a quick 75 episodes of Rebels and you'll be all squared away on what's happening on this show, lol.

Rebels fans are loving that they haven't bothered explaining anything to the uninitiated.

So... it's a dream?

Hopefully, otherwise Anakin communicating with Snips and not his own grandson or the new new hope Rey is a major plot hole (unless Palps was signal-jamming him).

Got done watching episode 5
See it’s funny cause they use to hate on this guy so much but now he is the savior of Star Wars! My guy came in and did those iconic PT lightsaber moves and we got emotional clone wars flashbacks.
He wasn't good in the prequels but

A) hardly anyone was, almost everyone was wooden as **** trying to deliver George's dialogue
B) he was a new actor who had the extremely difficult job of trying to make us believe he was a young Darth Vader before he got the suit and took on James Earl Jones' voice and intonations. How the hell do you do that?
C) George Lucas didn't give a crap about acting and probably accepted the first take on every line or whatever take worked best for the background special effects but which may have had poor line delivery and this ties back to A.

For Hayden's new appearances we can rule out A and C. Whatever about anything else I think a bit more care is given to acting performances in Disney Star Wars. I'm sure people will cite exceptions but generally the acting is better. Hayden himself is older and wiser now and probably can't help but be better, almost by default, than he used to be. And, without A and C as factors, personally I find it easier to excuse any residual slightly unnatural sounding line Hayden might deliver as foreshadowing James Earl Jones' vocal performances as Darth Vader. He kinda has to do that. I would have expected it of any actor who took on the role. And that was always going to be a bit awkward because how many actors naturally sound like James Earl Jones who also look like they could be Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher's dad? :lol

If Thrawn is such a threat, if Baylan is so powerful, if the Empire is coming back under Thrawn etc then surely they need to have Luke, Han and Leia back?
If this is such a big scale threat. Or are we supposed to accept that Ahsoka just going to say nah, the B team consisting of herself, Sabine and Hera have got this?
Where's the hero's of the Rebellion? It's time for the A team right?
If the movie that all this culminates is Ahsoka and friends, the mandos and Boba vs Thrawn, his darkside goons and the Empire in a large scale battle, I call foul.

This is probably obvious and everyone got this already, but I'm assuming the NR council is full of Imperials.
Blocking Hera at every turn, sending a whole fleet to stop and essentially arrest her, take her back.

He and Luke had closure at the end of ROTJ...Ahsoka had things to settle, either "kill" him or forgive him. IMO.

I kinda feel bad if you’re an ST fan. All that silly **** seems to be going out the window soon.
He seemed annoying but I’m sure they are gonna do more with that kid jacen.
That new rey trilogy better not see the light of day if they dont want a bomb
Love the new Ashoka in white. Lord of the rings vibe.
Love the flash back. People said he couldn’t act but he did great! We need a live action clone wars movie. I was to invested in that.
I agree on the sith eyes. Lucas did that way better. They look almost demonic but this is Disney and we can’t have Ashoka looking to scary.
What’s up with the whales? Very weird. It would be hilarious if during a big space fight they just pop out of nowhere and it’s just constant pandemonium. Could you imagine if they came at the end of return of the Jedi and just rammed into the Death Star?

But yea this is pretty good! I hope it doesn’t fumble. Not a fan of the rebels stuff but it’s ok. Ashoka is what matters
Also hope the two sith guys don’t die. The girl is a bad ***.
His acting wasn't great in the PT but as a-dev pointed out a lot of that was down to GL's writing and direction. Plus the whole set up of his being a little kid when Padme was already an adult in TPM made their dynamic too weird going forward for a lot of people. That was a lot for even the best of actors to overcome. But he does seem to have matured rather gracefully as an actor so it's nice to see fans embracing him now. And he does have a powerful, athletic style during lightsaber duels...when he isn't twirling it unnecessarily like a baton. :lol

Regarding Baylan and Shin - you do know that Ray Stevenson died, right? Unless they recast Baylan's not surviving past this series. I'm guessing that he dies in a rematch with Ahsoka, but a vengeful Shin survives to be a weapon for Thrawn to exploit, possibly with a Nightsister power upgrade (courtesy of Morgan Elsbeth) similar to that bestowed on Savage Opress.

That’s what I’m saying. Why do we need this loser babk when Luke is the one who actually stopped everything

It's early. I'm sure Luke will show up in the movie where he'll team up with Ahsoka, Sabine, Grogu, Mando, etc.. In the meantime he's probably traveling around the galaxy looking for students to train at his new Jedi School for Future Knights of Ren. :)

She made some comment about needing Sabine and needed her trained in one of the earlier episodes. How about just bringing Luke?
He'd have Baylan and his sidekick sent home in a sack pretty quickly.

Well, until episode 5 she was still harboring guilt about Anakin's downfall. Perhaps that prevented her from dragging his son into danger?

Well then there wouldn't be a show would there? Why not just have Luke show up for Mandalore? Or any other conflict? Because it'd be boring :lol

He didn't show up for most of the ST and we know how that went. It's no coincidence that ROTS is considered the best of the PT and who shows up in that eh???

Wait, isn't Luke still relatively young in this era per Mando/BOBF? Why so sure he could take Baylan any more than Ahsoka could?

I personally find his saber fight in this show much better than the PT

It was all too fast in the ROTS and thus the sabers had no weight. Probably cause the actress can’t move as as fast as Ewen.

Hayden is doing a much better job of acting in this show than he did in the PT. Better dialogue probably helps lol.

As for the ST… they just tried to go back to saber duels in the OT. Didn’t really work. Nothing really worked :lol

Ahsoka would kick Luke’s *** in a saber duel if we go by his dueling skills in ROTJ :lol
This thread after the last two comments about Luke...
