I know we're building-up to a new arc, but we're back to a very passive Cassian. He's the least interesting part of this episode. Don't get me wrong, I liked the episode, just not Cassian's parts.

The difference is that the writing and acting in the Prequels was often so bad that it undermined the intent. As did Jar Jar and those ridiculous Battle Droids.

Andor succeeds with the mission that Lucas failed at.
We'll have to agree to disagree on that one :)

Not watched yet, gonna save for dinner time, let me guess it's gonna be another one where people complain it's "boring" because there's no pew pew boom boom wizard action sequences?

The only opinion that matters is your own.

I've disliked TPM since 1999, and only began to warm up to any part of the PT at the end of ROTS.

To me it's the clumsiest set of films, focussing on political machinations and trade embargos, and yet still trying to appeal to a very young audience by inserting out of place and over the top comedy. It could've been done with skill, or if Lucas had had the much needed oversight he required.

With Andor they've gone for one angle, and dropped the necessity to appeal to a wider audience. In essence it feels more believable, and the stakes are therefore also now more real.

I've written before, imagine how out of place it would be if Jar Jar suddenly turned up in Andor?

Meesa thinks yousa muy bombad!

There'd be one positive if Jar Jar showed up in Andor.

Cassian would shoot him dead without a moment's hesitation. :lol

The other funny thing with the beach scene is that palm trees invariably mean Shoretroopers.

Shoretroopers and palm trees have become one of those Star Wars tropes like the phrase, "I have a bad feeling about this."

(Though thankfully I don't think that phrase has appeared in this series yet).

And I'll take George's silly Battle Droids and raise him with these guys:

Before the dark times, before the PT, there were tales of fearsome battle droids...

...who didn't say "Roger, Roger". :lol

It's actually one of the most interesting eps as things are all starting to have weight and stakes attached to them.
(plus, Cassian's not in it much ;)).

Really enjoyed today's episode with the Imperial agency, Mon Mothma party etc.
Also Andor has some pretty hot women, was hoping to see more of the one who was in bed while he was in the shower room.

I don't see how you could view him as passive in this episode. He was very active, he just wasn't robbing or killling anyone lol. And his parts were necessary for him to realize that
his plan to runaway was futile as there's nowhere he can go where he'll be at peace and free of the Empire's reach. Now he'll need to escape from prison before either (a) the Empire realizes who he really is or (b) the Rebels find him and try to assassinate him. But something tells me Vel will be faced with a choice and instead decide to help him escape.

I have a very hard time coming up with ANY show where JJ would NOT be out of place

He'd fit right into The Book of Boba Fett. :lol

Imagine him on one of those Lambrettas with his ears blowing behind him at 30 mph...

Stupid ass Droid saw them coming 5 miles away and had 10 minutes to dodge or cross the street completely.
