This is why I can only lol at apologists who push the narrative that critics of these movies are racists. Anyone who doesn't see a problem with the treatment of Finn must be completely ignorant of how people of color are marginalized in movies or is just a casual racist drowning in their own white privilege.
I commented on this before. Finn is a disgusting racial stereotype and a narrative travesty. Boyega is a super-talented actor and his on screen chemistry with Ridley was FANTASTIC. What would have been wrong with a romantic relationship between those two? They both could have easily carried this franchise into the future MCU style were it not for the gross incompetence and typical Hollywood racism of Kennedy, Ruin, and JJ. Instead of getting a "black cool" character in Finn, we get the typical escaped Black slave trope who is an uneducated janitor, yells all his dialog, and does nothing of consequence other than take orders from and support the whites around him as well as provide comic relief. I'm surprised there wasn't a scene of him rapping, eating space watermelon, and playing space basketball. Why Finn wasn't treated with respect as a protagonist and made a Jedi will forever be a wasted opportunity and an embarrassing stain on these movies.
