Yeah and what happened to ''if you choose to face Vader you will do it alone. I cannot intervene'' (or does he say ''interfere'', I can't remember)

Enter Han Solo - ''but you can help Rey, is that who you can help?''

Obi-wan - ''Iiii....*trails off*''

Han - ''......I'm sorry''

Obi-wan - ''Hold me''

:lol

Too bad Luke and the fake chosen one Anakin/Vader couldn't join forces with all the past ghosts in ROTJ to beat Palpatine. It took a Palpatine to beat a Palpatine with the help of ghosts, Dragon Ball Z style. Oh that's right, The Rise of Skywalker completely ripped off the Cell Saga ending from DBZ. :lol

So perfectly put. :lol :clap

Look jye, I love your enthusiasm for this stuff, and I don't want to keep crapping on it. But I just want you to think about the logic of all of these Force ghosts waiting until now (and waiting for Rey Palpatine) to take out the bad guy. After 5 planets were destroyed by Snoke/Palpatine in TFA. After more havoc and destruction by the "death star destroyers" in TROS. Now, the combined Jedi are able to power someone to take out a more powerful version of Palpatine than he was in the OT?

What are you telling me here? Are you serious that you think I'm missing something that makes all the sense in the world because Rey crossed two lightsabers? Palpatine essentially killed himself. And why wouldn't he? He'd just finished telling Rey that her killing him would unleash her Sith powers so she could be the new empress.

I didn?t say you had to like it or that it made a lick of sense all I did was describe what was happening in that very specific scene.

How would that work? Didn't his apprentice Darth Sidious (i.e., Emperor Palpatine) kill Plagueis in his sleep? Palpatine telling Anakin that is one of the few things I remember about the PT. Was that a lie?

The entire saga is now one giant lie, so does it even matter anymore?

Kiddies always want the Big Boss (the boss of the boss) to be the final level of the game.

Exactly!

I'm loving all the apologists posting here and in the Star Wars HT threads. Their attempts at justifying this crap without any concrete arguments is hilarious.

What the hell is a Dragon Ball Z

Sounds super lame lol

Understood. :duff

I just didn't see it that way. Maybe that's how it was meant and I'm just too stubbornly clinging to the idea that Force ghosts wouldn't have waited till now to help take down a Palpatine. All I got out of it was them telling her to get up; the rest she did on her own.

This movie is just a fun romp for those who don?t care what?s come before and/or don?t think too deeply about it.

Sadly I?m not in that category but I fear the majority of moviegoers are, so JJ will be vindicated.

Rey is an independent Millenial woman. She doesnt need help from a bunch of creepy old men to defeat a witch.

I?m completely not onboard this Palpatine resurrection and Force reimagining shenanigans going on here.

BUT I also don?t think that just because it exists that my love of the OT has now been ruined.

The beauty of sequels is that the OT is still the OT full stop 1983.

I don?t know what to tell you I mean Vader in RO fought like a beast against a platoon but in ANH he moved like a slow poke lol

Imagine this new emperor in ANH he could?ve ended the trench run in 15 seconds instead of sending that slow poke old fart after them. :rotfl

So let me attempt to understand this trash and put it into perspective:

  • Anakin gets hit by Sith Lightning[SUP]TM[/SUP] and just gets tossed across a room
  • Obi-Wan's lightsaber can absorb Sith Lightning[SUP]TM[/SUP] like a vacuum cleaner
  • Windu deflects Sith Lightning[SUP]TM[/SUP] with his saber and it just deforms Palpatine into the Monster Mash
  • Sith Lightning[SUP]TM[/SUP] tosses Windu out a window to his death
  • 800-year-old Yoda can catch Sith Lightning[SUP]TM[/SUP] with one hand like an OG
  • Luke gets hit point blank with full powered Sith Lightning[SUP]TM[/SUP] for over 20 minutes and still has the strength to remain defiant and ask his father for help
  • Vader gets hit by Sith Lightning[SUP]TM[/SUP] and dies because it fries his life support system

Now, strong, independent, down with the straight white male patriarchy, and feminist fantasy Rey Palpatine just deflects Sith Lightning[SUP]TM[/SUP] and that is enough to not only turn Palpatine to dust in seconds, but also blow up everything around them. Isn't this another example of her Mary Sueness? If Rey does it, it's the most powerful thing ever. Can't wait to read what dumb explanation apologists come up for this one while conveniently ignoring everything I listed above.

One lightsaber - Palpatine "UNLIMITED POWAHHHH!!!"

Two lightsaber crossed like Wonder Woman ?.

So, some people think Disney has paid Rotten Tomatoes to freeze the audience score at 86%. The score hasn’t changed from 6000 reviews to 21000 reviews, which is odd. I find it hard to believe 86% of people liked this movie.

The force is female. That’s why. Literally that is the entire reason to explain any BS power Rey can do instantly. I guess the added twist of her heritage was somehow supposed to help explain her powers.

This looks to be heading to around $190m opening weekend. While TFA was in the realm of $250m and TLJ was $220m, $190m is hardly a disappointment, just a notch below expectations (though Disney cleverly said they were expecting $175m so it appears to be an upside surpise.) I would guess that if this opened below RO ($155m) it would have raised some eyebrows at Disney.

They said the B+ audience exit score for this was slightly below the A's of TFA and TLJ.

The big question is how this will play on the other side of Christmas and especially in the first week of January.

Nothing makes sense. Kylo has the power to hold a ship, but needs a lightsaber to beat up the Knights of Ren. Wut? He can't just push them away Magneto style. :dunno

Remember when he stopped a laser blast midair on a whim and tortured Poe with just his mind? Neither do I.

The force is female.

Social Justice according to Kathleen Kennedy and Lucasfilm: White men - bad, White women - perfect. People of color? LOL! Token racist stereotypes and the butt of badly written jokes.

Well, it?s no surprise that....

Every prominent white man died. Feels like a conscious decision by Disney to be honest. And it?s sick what they turned Finn into. I really like John Boyega and Finn had a really promising arc. Then they turned Poe into some hot head.

Just saw it. Ambivalent about the whole sequel trilogy. Started strong with TFA then went off the rails with TLJ now it’s like whatever goes in TROS. Since when is projecting force lighting a Palpatine thing? Rey does it automatically because of her heritage? She can’t be born a Sith because according to everything I’ve read, being a Sith is a choice. Or am I wrong. They crammed waaaaay too much into this movie. Rey goes from lifting rocks in one movie and holding ship in mid air in another? Man did she progress. Everything happened so fast. What was the point of Chewie getting captured? That whole scenario could have been taken out and changed nothing. For me the whole movie was sort of anticlimactic because Rey never loses, and I knew that going in.
