Yeah I never understood the "Palps had sex" argument against TROS.. Powerful men are always finding a beautiful woman willing to deal with their ugliness to get a step up in life... Or as the Emperor he just forced himself on someone.. Hell Even Jabba had slave girls.

It's one of the few things that made sense.

It's consistent with the PT logic, because if the Sith are the opposite of the Jedi, and the Jedi are supposed to practice celibacy, then the Sith are probably into orgies, bestiality, and all kind of wind things.

Still, Palpatine could have gotten a woman pregnant using the force, since the force can be use as a plot devise when necessary.

Having said all that, Palps probably got himself a big ol woman. Order 69.

I always thought that Yoda and the Emperor were above using lightsabers..

In fact in the Making of The Return of the Jedi book there are transcripts of lucas discussing where the story was going to go for the 3rd film and he said that Yoda would never use a lightsaber and I think he said the same about the emperor.. I will have to check that again..

Basically he said they were more powerful then what a saber could do.

Totally. I'm so glad that TROS brought Palps back to being the dark sorcerer we saw in ROTJ and not the spinning cartoon from ROTS.

They might not bother with a lightsaber against other opponents, but they do against each other.

AOTC directly addresses this issue when Yoda and Dooku reach a stalemate with their Force lightning. Dooku says words to the effect of, ?This can only be decided by our skill with a lightsaber.?

The TLJ Visual Dictionary has probably revised this, but I only just realised the EU material upon which RJ based Force projection said it could be a projection of other things as well - even multiple things - not just oneself.

They should probably have added the asterisk regarding that pesky "you die doing it" side issue.:monkey3

To be fair, he doesn't have yellow eyes and a butt crack for a forehead.:lol

Even Anna Nicole might have drawn the line there.:lecture

And given that Palps is cranking out Snokes less than two decades later, couldn't Palps have just created Rey as a clone? Why does she even need to be his biological daughter? The whole ending was so murky about that cloning lab. Like why do they need Rey when they can create bodies at will? Because she's a force user? Then who/what was Snoke then?

I still love the idea that Palps had a Scott Palpatine son though. Cracks me up. "Dad! Your plans for galactic domination are so retarded because you already died!":lol

And I loved how Jabba lusted after Leia because it brought up all kinds of questions about whether Han could date Greedo's sister and could/would they have a baby Yoda as a child (I loved the Bill Burr "did you guys make this?" line re: baby yoda and Mando and his Twilek ex)? Like would Leia ever date Hammerhead or Walrusman or is that just a major no-go?

How is it "literally" a cartoon?

I thought it was one of the highlights of the whole saga.

Don't mind them. They will look over the glaring stupidity of the ST but crap on the PT cause tried to tell a different story and not heavily rely on nostagia. Yea it wasn't done well but it was way better than the ST.

Yoda leaping around is a no go but Lea flying in space like superman gets a pass. Pffffffftttt haha

There are some very good dialogue connections between the PT and ST that is not being appreciated as much as it should.

Interesting parallel between Mace deflecting his lightning back onto Palp and Rey doing the same.

My question is was it really hurting Palp or not in ROTS of was it just a ruse to get Anakin to act.

Would?ve Palp melted just like he did in TROS had Anakin not stopped Mace. I do think Rey was channeling not just Palps lightning but maybe her own and her 2 sabers were powered by the force at that point.

Did Palpatine look like that before Mace even attacked him, breaking only his illusion to make him look like he was being scarred and drained... or did the attack really scar him? That was an old argument I heard, and I like the ambiguity of it. It's possible Palpatine was old and deformed before Windu ever attempted the arrest and then drew a lightsaber, and Palpatine dropped the illusion (or maybe his concentration broke when attacked by Windu) and then used it to manipulate Anakin.

One could ask the same thing in the case of Palpatine/Rey. Was he really more vibrant even from the beginning than he looked, and then went from old and gnarled to full on Sidious because it was the reality, or did he merely start with the old look as an illusion so he could reveal his full self in an attempt to throw off Rey's confidence? Sure, the "Force life sucking" thing could have done it too... but we don't really know either way.

Man... I really wish there was someone involved through the whole Saga that had the job of just keeping continuity for all 9 films, this series could have been so great, without all the blemishes that really make it problematic to enjoy. Oh well, wishing does no good, we got what we got.

Regardless of what you think of the movie it's pretty amazing that in one SW film all these characters had speaking parts:

Han, Leia, *and* Luke (finally!)
3PO, R2, BB-8
Chewbacca
Emperor Palpatine, JEJ Vader, Snoke
Yoda, Guinness Kenobi, McGregor Kenobi, HC Anakin
Qui Gon, Mace Windu, Ahsoka
Rey, Kylo, Poe
And that was adult Wicket and his kid at the end? If so then him too, lol.

Damn what a lineup! All that was missing was the voice of Jabba encouraging Palpatine at the end, lol.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, at least someone did.

I prefer quality over quantity myself. I'm not impressed by star power, and nostalgia alone doesn't cut it for me. And having Guinness and McGregor both seems like overkill to me, but then the whole manic pace seemed like a purposeful attempt at distraction from inconsistancies.

I used to complain about Greedo shooting first. Oh, to go back to those blissful days!

Your last paragraph says it all what a real shame that is so super frustrating.

Disney could?ve hired 30 freaks from here at a fraction of the cost and ended up with a trilogy masterpiece!

Seriously there are easily 30 freaks on here that know exactly what makes great cohesive SW and no i?m not one of them lol

I?m surprised there wasn?t a Baby Yoda cameo lol

I?m just happy we didn?t get any of that dagger of Mortis stuff Lucas was just getting too wacky with that stuff.

I also thought Sidious looked so freaking scary in TROS that I don?t even want the Trevorrow cut with no emperor.

Yeah at least the Razor Crest (or the same ship model as Razor Crest) showed up at Exegol so hopefully we eventually get a Mando episode that shows his (and BY's?) involvement in the final battle.

Yep the best SW requires Lucas but not too much Lucas, lol.

Oh I know. I'd still love to see all the alternate endings that were filmed and of course whatever George was going to do with microbiotics *plus* Trevorrow's original plans. Man what a gold mind of hidden information. But yeah, my own preferences will always side with Palps being the true big bad of the entire Saga.

Well, Ian McDiarmid has said that the "normal-looking" Senator/Chancellor Palpatine was a false face, and that he dropped the "mask" at the end of ROTS to reveal his true form. This is a McDiarmid quote from the Star Wars Insider magazine (issue #82):

"George once said a really useful thing when I began playing Palpatine (in Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace), and I don't know if he remembers this. He said, "In a sense, your eyes are contact lenses." In other words, the Palpatine character was the most artificial-it was as if they had grafted his face and put in (his) eyes. Because the real Palpatine is the one who bursts forth at a calculated moment in Episode III just after persuading Anakin to kill Mace (Windu). That is when the true person comes out, letting the evil fully manifest itself. The Emperor that you see in the last film looks the way he does because he's very old and very evil-it is what he always looked like. He just had this carapace of looking like a fairly ordinary looking guy, a politician that smiled a bit, and so on."

But Lucas has never addressed this specifically (to my knowledge) in an interview or director's commentary track, so it's truly one of those things that is completely up to personal interpretation.

I just want to know how his robes changed in mid scene. :lol I never would've thought that sucking "life force" could even generate a whole new outfit (complete with red lining) out of thin air. The Force is a truly wondrous thing.

So true. And the really sad part is that the LFL story group was developed in large part for the very specific purpose of keeping *one* consistent continuity. Epic fail there. They are truly useless.
