I'll play it just for the story, of which I heard was very good. It's definitely a "rent, finish, and hope for a better sequel" type of game.

Picked up my copy for Wii tonight at Gamestop's midnight release, and they gave me the Stormtrooper figure with the free cheat code in it.

The graphics are not so tight for this system, but it does seem fun.

I cannot beat the secret Jedi in the beginning even. As Darth Vader! But then, I've never been much of a gamer anyway. Am I supposed to beat him?

I believe you beat the secret Jedi as a Secret Apprentice.
So !!!! Today is the day !!!! I picking up my copy the first thing in the morning !!!! :chew

8 hours long and glitches? Looks like a rental at best.

Yep. And it's not like they weren't working on this thing for THREE FREAKIN' YEARS.

This is another Lucas Shuck-N-Jive, folks. If you fell for all the hype, that is.

It's not horrible. It's not very good. It's just... mediocre. But, in perspective that should disappoint many (as the reviews so far already indicate).

Played it today at a friends. He bought a copy without any hesitation, staunch Star Wars fan and all (you know the type).

The game isn't bad! I played about 3-4 hours of it, and will go back and finish the rest tonight.

The graphics are great, the art design and environments have that nostalgic quality and seeing classic Star Wars characters with new ones is really cool. The Apprentice (Star Killer) is a great addition to the Star Wars cast.

Critics have been quite harsh on the gameplay, and to an extent I have to agree that it could have been smoother and less repetitive. You could get through most of the game by hacking and slashing with the same combo's. But that'd be a shame because the force powers could very well be the single best thing about the game.

Ok, I HATED the glitches. My buddy and I encountered 2 (TWO) game-halting glitches that really pissed us off. Both of the glitches had our character stuck in a piece of the level geometry (some weird plants, foliage) without a way to wiggle ourselves out, so we had to restart.

It's a minor nit, but the glitches were quite annoying. Anyway, to sum up, the game isn't perfect but the groundwork laid by this first installment is solid and the sequel should be great if they ever make one. Rent it for the story, it's worth it for SW fans.

That happened to me FOUR different times. :banghead Inexcusable for a game that was in development and delayed seemingly forever.

I finished it a little while ago. Fun, but really no replay value. WAY too repetitive (and sometimes quite frustrating). I'll be trading it in tomorrow for store credit.

Not nearly in the same class as a KOTOR.

its not supposed to be. KOTOR is an RPG this is an action game.
~~so far i'm lucky because i haven't seen any of the mentioned glitches. however i do find the hack and slash elements very repetitive.

I'm sure he means the quality of production on this game. I absolutely agree. Even in it's own genre, The Force Unleashed isn't even close to the best of it's kind. I think that award goes to the Jedi Knight games.

However, I think the story and overall graphics and design rival that of KOTOR.

I meant in overall quality. Obviously this is a very different type of game.

That said, even the story/plot/characters (all of which has been heavily hyped) can't touch KOTOR. In fact, it's not even as compelling as KOTOR II.

It does beat the KOTOR games in the graphics department, but it damn well should since it's a next-gen game and those weren't. However, the graphics are not as good as something like MASS EFFECT.

The eventual KOTOR III is going to blow this game out of the water with a quickness, especially since Bioware and Drew Karpyshyn are on board.

just got TFU and its not a bad game, actually i have been playing it for more than 2 hours and its a blast!!!its a good thing i'm a diehard star wars fan and didnt mind what the reviews had to say about the game.

I don't think anyone is saying it's a "bad" game. It's at least passable and average. It's just not worth the wait or all the hype.

It's funny, for how long the game has been in production, you would think that the storyline, etc would rival that of KOTOR. Alas, it isn't; it's almost like a glorified star warsish Final Fight type of game, which is sad. I was expecting much MUCH more. Guess they figure that it says STAR WARS on it and people will buy it regardless.

look, uncle george made us another crap sandwich and we'll eat it and like it!

i think i'll decide whether to stop and buy it as i'm passing by walmart on my way home....as of right now, I'll rent it via gamefly after i beat ninja gaiden 2.
