Just read the Thrawn Duology which was a good read and about to read Survivors Quest which i believe is the last book in the new republic era.

I read every book from Truce at Bakura to the Thrawn Duology and i like them all except for Children of the Jedi, Planet of Twilight and the Crystal Star i read all these because i want to read all the books but they were just rubbish, total lack of Star Wars fun and no space battles.

Once i read all the new republic novals im going to start with reading some all the books before new republic era. really looking forward to reading The Rise of the Dark Lord. Ive been told to get the audio CD as it meant to be awnsome with original sound effects and the star wars music in the background when there space battle and Darths killing people.

You'll love it, Josh. So much good stuff in that one.

The Vader/Palpatine dynamic? Check.

More cool Clones? Check.

More Jedi Purging? Check.

Armored Vader kicking ass? Check.

More answered questions and ties to the OT? Double Check.

Sweet!! I need to get reading then so I can get to it.

Even funner? The audiobook version. The narrator really nails Vader's voice well, and they do a swell job of getting all the sounds and voices right.

Hands down, my favorite SW book is DARK RENDEZVOUS. Sean Stewart nailed Yoda SO WELL, I couldn't even picture the digi-Yoda from the Prequels, I kept 'seeing in my head', the Yoda puppet from EMPIRE. THAT'S how dead-on I found the writing.

Count Dooku goes from being kind of a one-dimensional baddie to be a VERY well thought-out character, in Stewart's hands. I find that the only thing compelling about Count Dooku is that he had an amazing actor cast in the roll. On paper, he's kinda one-note, but he has gravitas simply because of Christopher Lee essaying the roll. Sean Stewart actually figures out how a smart cat like Dooku could play the Sith game, knowing what the inevitable fate is. And he has a blast with Assajj Ventriss as his dissatisfied disciple.

Check it out. My favorite SW novel since SPLINTER OF THE MIND'S EYE.

Okay Adam, 2 things...

1. I am going to go and buy the DARK LORD Audiobook on the way home now.

2. I have the DARK RENDEZVOUS paperback. It shall be my next read.

Thanks for the tips!

Let me know what you think when you're done!

And while I found all the Clone Wars novels enjoyable to excellent, the novelisation of REVENGE OF THE SITH is an unrecognized gem. All the same events, but with characterization and drama set on '11'. Anakin finds out his mentor's actually a Sith Lord? In the book, you can TELL. If you liked the movie, the book will blow you away....

Thanks for the help. I have 7 coming now. I might regret doing it but I joined one of those Book clubs. I did some math and it seemed like no matter how I did it I came out ahead. It looks like it will work out to about $12 a book after shipping for each after I buy the 4 at full price. I got

DARTH BANE: PATH OF DESTRUCTION
OUTBOUND FLIGHT
LABYRINTH OF EVIL
DARK LORD
ALLEGIANCE
YODA: DARK RENDEZVOUS
REPUBLIC COMMANDO (Has both Hard Contact and Triple Zero)

all are hardback which I prefer its easier to read to me, I have no vision problems (well after surgery i don't) but they just seem much easier to read.

Good stuff, mfoga. You got some great SW books in there.
I was looking at those people said were better and this that were more expensive. I cost me a whole 26 bucks for those but now I have to buy 4 more at regular price.

the novelization for rots by stover was great as was dark lord by lucerno. i think the only sw novel i haven't read yet is the second part of the medstar duology. i enjoy pretty much all of them (even the bad ones) as they are something of a guilty pleasure. the new legacy of the force series (jacen, jaina, ben, etc) is cool even though i know a lot of people haven't liked it due the 'darker' nature and direction of some of the long time characters but it has a lot of sith stuff (finally) and all of them have been pretty well written. plus it has a character (lumiya) that hasn't been around since the comics which is a cool nod to all the old sw comic fans.

Glad to see Dark Rendezvous getting some love, it was my favorite of the clone wars books. I think I mentioned it before, but I just loved the interaction between Yoda and Dooku. I think that book is why I like Dooku so much.

I'm also glad to see you got some good books mfoga. If you like them I would say go ahead and venture out further and find others that are less warmly praised. I won't say they are all good, but I did enjoy reading them all.

i cant give enough praise on this book. it shows a bit more of what its like in the life of the little green master. and i also like how it showed in more detail the training regiment of the younglings. dooku was also fleshed out much more in this book than both the prequels combined... my favorite was the flashback of dooku in training and asking yoda some of his theories.

They guy on the audio books of Dark Lord is the same as the guy who reads the ROTS novelization. It is really cool how one guy can do so many different voices. I think he nails Vader, Obi-Wan, Palpatine... Hell, he even did a great Mon Mothma.:lol

Loved all 13 (or 12, don't remember) books of the New Jedi Order, Thrawn Trilogy was decent, Dark Nest Trilogy was really good, and the 4 new Legacy of the Force books are great. If I was going to pick one, I would get the Legacy of the Force series, it has Han/Leia/Luke as well as other great character, plus an evil Anakin Skywalker Grandkid, how can you not love that? New one comes out in June.

yah legacy rules so far (can't wait to see what his 'darth' name is going to be!) and the dark nest trilogy was great.

I would think Legacy can be best appreciated after reading NJO, and the Dark Nest is an important bridge too, but NJO really changes the galaxy. On the other hand I supose we got along with the OT before knowing what changed the galaxy, so I guess if someone just fills you in on the high points that would help. I can't wait to see how Legacy turns out. Its funny because the first Legacy book came out just beofre I went in to grad school and the last will come out the month I graduate.

Well, I had only read a little bit of the NJO Series, but my buddy linked me to a Star Wars Wiki site that really helps fill you in with the character and the events from other books, and that's Wookiepedia. It really helped me get up to speed.

I'll have to peruse there, It's been so long since I've read the books that come between the Thrawn Trilogy and The Corellian Trilogy I can't remember what all happened. So far its not really been a problem, but it would be nice to be able to know some of the little side comments. Thanks for the site.

I can highly recommend the Han Solo trilogy. Well at least the first 2 books in the series, I still need to read the last one.

I am now looking for books about Palpatine..... any help anyone?
