I though that was just what they were renaming the prequels, lol.

They are already working on the spinoff:

Finished revisiting Mando Season 2 and immediately moved right on into TFA.

WOW. An entirely different context now that just works. So many things that fall easily into place now.

For starters I didn't realize the first time around how often the remnant Imperials in Mando mention "order."

The one officer tells Mando and Mayfeld, "they think they want peace. What they really want is order."

And my son goes "the First Order." BOOM. I love how this new generation thinks. :yess: I was all holy crap hell yeah. And then in the season finale when Moff Gideon is standing over Grogu with the Darksaber he says something to the effect of "you can take him. I got what I needed; his blood, which will prove very valuable in the new Order."

Then as we headed into the final sequence of that episode my son had to totally ruin Luke's rescue by saying "Why is Mando just hiding in that room when he has a Darksaber? Obviously he can just cut through the Dark Troopers just as easily as Luke." Gah! :gah: They were never in danger at all, lol.

But I must say that Luke's arrival and Din taking off his mask to say goodbye still hit me in the feels even on a third viewing.

But wow moving right on into TFA like I said everything just *clicked.* Gideon saying that they had what they needed to start a new Order. Luke taking Grogu, closing the elevator and then..."Luke Skywalker has vanished. The First Order has risen from the ashes of the Empire. They are hunting Luke, bla bla bla." It blends so well.

And how the hell did it not click with me that the Trooper transports in "The Tragedy" are obvious precursors to the FO Troop Transports??? Except on Jakku the FO is all "yeah we're not doing that piddly one at a time thing that Gideon did, we're landing four at once," lol.

The prison planet where they picked up Mayfeld where they were stripping all the wrecked Imperial ships really segued nicely into the wreckage left on Jakku as well.

*All* of the "wait how the hell did everything get like this after the victory of ROTJ" was GONE. :rock And that was one of the biggest issues of the ST!!!

Another big issue that just evaporated was Rey saying that she thought Luke Skywalker was a myth. That line has been blasted on social media for years since "how could a famous person be considered a myth after a mere 30 years?" The answer is because because a large portion of the galaxy probably *always* thought that Luke was a myth, even during and immediately after the Rebellion. Mando and Kuill had never even heard of the Force, let alone a Jedi. Same with Luke himself for that matter until Ben explained it to him.

There's what trillions of people in the galaxy and even during the "thousand generations" that the Jedi were keepers of the peace how many really were there? A few thousand? Out of trillions? I could easily see how 90% of the galaxy might just think that their skills were greatly embellished, "simple tricks and nonsense," with certain famous Jedi just being bedtime "legends."

Watching TFA after two seasons of Mando also made Kylo Ren's appearance that much more refreshing due to black Sith type characters having a nice period of absence in the Saga.

It was also awesome seeing a character like that one cyborg Jawa type dude who held Grogu hostage before being lifted in the air by Mando's jetpack appearing on Jakku to harrass Rey while she was cleaning the parts. I even found myself liking Kylo's line about creating a clone army this time around. The Saga just fits together better than ever IMO and especially the OT and ST thanks even moreso to The Mandalorian.

Yup Luke completely ruined by super elite beskar Mando not using the darksaber on them :gah:

Only way out of this disastrous revelation is that he couldn’t use it in combat as per Madalore laws

so I am watching all the Rocky movies with my son.

We watched Rocky 5 the other night and I realized..

Anakin Skywalker is the Tommy Gun of the PT.

He has a troubled past
He has a bad temper
He finds a teacher that he is very close to (Rocky)
he becomes the chosen one because Rocky sees that he can become the next champ so Rocky trains him.
Tommy is tempted by an "emperor"
In no time flat he turns on his teacher.. Like a night and day change
He fights his teacher
Teacher cries at the end and tells him how much he loves him and how Tommy Gun was basically going to go on and do great things (the choosen one) but now he is lost.

Anyways I am sure that is a typical story troupe (though i could not think of other films that were that similar) but It was funny because of how quickly Tommy turned from best friends with Rocky to mortal enemies in no time flat. The fight and Rocky's speech reminded me so much of Obi wan and Anakins final.

Only difference is Rocky 5 did a better job of making me think those two liked each other :lol

It is quite savage isn?t it lol

I actually wasn't looking for an excuse to further traumatize PT fans though. ;)

I was serious about the abrupt new state of the galaxy in TFA post-ROTJ totally not being a thing after Mando Seasons 1 and 2 though. Especially with the remnants of the Empire "having what they need for the new Order" and the FO dropships being updated versions of Gideon's dropships. :yess:

Yeah, I think the Mandalorian, and possibly the other series being developed, will do a lot to set the foundations for the ST and have it make more sense. Just like the Clone Wars cartoons fleshed out a lot of stuff for people who didn't like the PT.

I still just don't think Favreau will connect The Mandalorian to the ST in any meaningful way. He is too smart. He knows how much his audience hates those films, and I think it's reasonable to say that he himself dislikes the ST. The ST people love to point out that they used the word "order" but none of them are talking about the direct and hilarious jab that Luke Skywalker took at Rey when talking about Grogu's training. But all we can do is wait and see where he goes from here...

Quite possibly the single most scathing thing I've ever read about the PT, lol.

:lol

I was not trying to be slam on the PT (OK a little) but only because I was surprised and thought it was funny how much it followed the same path with the same flawed storytelling... But I did believe Rocky really did care about Tommy Gun and that for a while Tommy cared about Rocky... I never got that feeling from the PT with Obi Wan and Anakin.

As far as I can tell Mando might not even run into the Empire / First Order in the next season... I am guessing it will focus on Mandalore. So story wise it might not have to worry about making ST haters angry.

What makes you reasonably think he dislikes the ST himself? The Episode with the Snoke looking Clone was written by JF himself. Carl Weathers who directed the episode basically confirmed it was a snoke clone didnt he??

Luke was slamming himself.. After three films he got Less training than Rey did in her three films. ;)

Exactly! :lol

And Luke already gave Rey a direct dig in TLJ itself when she said that she didn't think the Ahch-To caretakers liked her and his super sarcastic response was "I can't imagine why..."

What makes you reasonably think he dislikes the ST himself?

Rumors that he lobbied to get on board with Star Wars because he hated TLJ. The way the tone of The Mandalorian contradicts the tone of the ST. The minimal presence of Kennedy around The Mandalorian and the time Favreau quickly snatched back control of a Mandalorian roundtable conversation from Kennedy when she tried to go off on her own tangent. The report that Favreau has complete autonomy from Kennedy which is obvious when watching the show. The reaction from Kennedy's minions after the appearance of Luke Skywalker. And the statement Favreau made about respecting core fans and lore of the franchise.
