Ah, but you are! Its not awful, but also not moving the story forward one iota.
Oh yes, the very fillerist. Not a bad episode I guess, entertaining enough but its an episode I'd skip if I was rewatching the season.
These filler episodes in Bad Batch are definitely a touch frustrating. They're short seasons, and each episode has a short runtime. There's a finite time to tell their story.
We had 2 meh episodes, followed by a good one and now here we are, a filler episode already.
They tease us with Crosshair and his new mystery commander, they tease us Cody deserting.
Then they give us filler. Doesn't even have the whole Bad Batch in this episode.

They're not that short, both seaons are 16 episodes, they've obviously accounted for what's "filler" and what's not.

I don't mind a more lighthearted fun episode after last weeks moody sorta dark episode. But I guess what some see as filler I see as world building and time spent with the characters. Not everything has to be high stakes.

I'd rather them not just reveal what happens instantly, personally.

Yeah but it's not like we got any character building. Tech is good at strategy. Wrecker is dumb and useless. Omega wants to help people. The world building wasn't exactly thrilling stuff either. Sure we know about a new race I suppose.
Just one of those kid friendly adventure episodes.
As I've said before, I'm not invested in the animated stuff like I am the live action stuff. Certainly don't care enough to debate whether this counted as a filler episode or not.
I might just wait for the whole season to be finished then just watch the ones that are like ep3. I can skip the likes of ep1,2 and 4.

Really, I saw that episode description and was all like "Do I even want to open this?" I did tho. Sweet Tech, is he the MVP of the Batch? I dont know, he just might be.

I of course dont expect them to tell us what's up with Cross and Cody in episode 4 out of 16...? Being repeatedly non-sequiter'ed every time you turn around though, is kind of.... something we should be used to by now, I guess.

Yeah I wasn't expecting a resolution or anything, its just jarring to go from story progression and something of substance in ep3 to "fun adventure" of the week the very next episode.
It's the Filoni formula for his cartoons. TCW and Rebels was the same. Handful of good episodes, tons of filler/"fun adventure of the week" episodes.
I'm not sure I could be arsed watching this each week. We've only had 1 good episode out of 4 so far.

I dunno, The Mandalorian kinda does the same thing with even less episodes.

Yes it does. I've always thought Favreau did the lion share of the writing in The Mandalorian, but that structure of a couple of good episodes, whole bunch of meh adventure of the week episodes is Filoni's style. He did it in TCW, Rebels and Bad Batch. Its the format for The Mandalorian too.

Pretty sure thats the formula for every show on TV.

I'm not entirely convinced this episode was just filler. I think it sets up

a potential betrayal by Cid and whether or not her relationship with Omega will be enough to stop that betrayal.

That said, for a 20+ minute episode that is released weekly, this does kill momentum somewhat.

I also wish they'd made the pod designs more varied. They all looked pretty similar and given the fast pace of the action, it wasn't that easy to differentiate between the racers. The villain racers' gimmicks were also cliché.

How much someone likes the episode probably depends on how much they like Tech and Star Wars Episode I Racer. Since my wife and I love both, we loved it.

I played a lot of Episode I Racer on the N64 when I was a kid and I immediately got those vibes. I even exclaimed that looks like Clegg Holdfast though it turned out to be a different Nosaurian racer named Jet.

Which reminded me of the time we were at Barnes & Noble looking at a Star Wars Where's Waldo type book. They had one of the targets labeled as just "this racer" and I said, "This racer? That's Ben Quadinaros."

My wife said she'll never forget the wide eyed look of disbelief our friend gave me because I knew his name. :lol

Episode 3 of Cody and Crosshair was truly, if not the best episode so far from this entire Bad Batch series (SS1 + currently ongoing SS2) IMO.

Oh I think Cody is already dead. And yes, how can this thing really end but badly for the batch? But...it's a cartoon on D+ so they probably won't let it get too grim even if the story really cries out for it.

This episode was a bit of a low, especially after last week's outstanding one. And PLEASE. I know it won't stop, but this ongoing practice that Fav & Fil like to do with casting known comedians as guest stars or voice talent has WAY worn out it's barely there in the first place novelty. Ben Schwartz's grating quippy driver droid blew past Wanda for being the most irritating presence in new SW yet. Of course, we know the Wanda bit was just a tease and we'll likely have a whole arc of episodes filled with her distinctive too-recognizable tone. Seriously though - this stunt pulls you right out of whatever story they're trying to show us. Go to your H-wood parties with them boys, don't bring them to work.

I hope that "Solitary Clone" doesn't end up being the excellent "exception" here. We'll see what next week brings.

I dont want it to end badly for them, though. I want them to go to Mandalore and get the anti-aging serum from Kal Skirata. And for Omega to become a Mandalorian. *sighs* none of that will happen. I want all of them to survive, i am aware this is childish.

When that stupid droid got run over, I wanted to freaking cheer.

Perhaps Wanda can team up with those Martell sisters, now that would be a riveting story for sure.

As for this episode, eh it was okay. Entertaining enough. If anything it looked a lot worse due to the supremely high bar set by last week's Cody and Crosshair ep. Man if it could all have that final season last 4 eps of clone wars vibe...

But this was fun I guess. In a podracery, Speed Racer kinda way.

Please tell me I'm hearing a symphony of sarcasm there :)

That was the sarcasm-iest sarcasm that I have ever sarcasmed, I assure you.

That right there would be an episode I really DID skip, ain't nobody got time for such a mess.

EDIT: I put the probability of this happening at about 75% because thats the kind of **** Lucasfilm does. The galaxy could rest easy tho; this would be the most inept band of pirates ever.
