I still can't understand why these guys have accents. The villains in SW had accents. Well I guess Obi and Qui Gonn were exceptions

that's not even the original Alien footage, that's from SpaceballsWhat are they saying that Rei was raised by a British person? She has to be Luke's child and that Luke's wife, lover was British, no way is anyone going to believe that she's Han's kid with that accent
If they can find Portman, why couldn't they find a girl that can at least fake a non accent.

Perhaps the accent is local to the place she has lived for the majority of her life. If you were born in the USA, but spent the majority of your years in London, you would probably have an accent as well, so saying its lazy casting is baseless until you've seen the film. Besides, non Americans often fake americanaccents quite convincingly.

That's a crazy stupid thing to say. Ridley looks fantastic in this. And she is not faking anything, that's her speaking voice. Well educated UK.
SW universe has always been full of proper english accents and pretend english accents.
Even Fisher tried to do it in ANH. Alec Guinness, Cushing, McGregor, Neeson, Christopher Lee to name but a few.. always had or pretended to have a regal english accent. 3PO for god's sake? I'm very glad they are continuing that tradition, wait until you hear Captain Phasma....
As long as no one has an Irish accent. Nothing takes me out of a movie more than that. I'd feel like I'm watching Fair City.
