This is going to be a kind of out there theory and personally one I hope does not occur because it would be absolutely ridiculous to see this...

what if when Leia is handed the lightsaber, she goes into the woods and tries to fight of Kylo to save Rey and Finn? We know Rey and Finn are out there with Ren just by the footage. Leia is the one to die and sacrifice's herself to save her daughter and that is who Rey is crying over. Leia's death could lead Luke out of this rumored exile he has been in and to confront Kylo Ren in Episode 8. Everyone thinks it will be Han to go, but what if this is a huge swerve? We know she is force sensitive. In the EU she wielded a lightsaber. Would be very believable that Luke trained his own sister in that thirty year gap. Anyone else think this is possible?

I don't think Leia travels with the heroes anywhere. Just a meet-and-greet at home when they pick up Han.
