Gonna post this in a few different threads instead of creating one. Just for those who want to know....

First Order Hierarchy (I think this is right, gathered from Visual Dictionary plus my assumptions)

-Supreme Leader Snoke
-Kylo Ren
-General Hux, Commander of Starkiller Base
-Stormtrooper Commander Captain Phasma (Captain is a simplistic term not indicative of rank)
-Admirals (Black Armband with Red/Black/White stripes)
-Colonels/Major (Teal/Aqua color Pauldrons/Arm Bands)
-Captains (Red Pauldron, Hot Toys call these "Officers")
-Sergeants (Black Pauldron)
-Squad Leader (White Pauldron)
-Stormtrooper Weapon Specialists (Flametrooper, Riot Control Trooper, Heavy Assault/Gunner Trooper)
-Regular Stormtroopers

Squad Formation
A squad consists of ten troopers. One Squad Leader. One weapon specialists that can include on of the following: Flametrooper, Riot Control Trooper, Heavy Assault Trooper. Eight regular Stormtroopers.

Luke looked rad in his black Jedi Knight robes in ROTJ and he never turned!

@ medical insurance. You might be onto something. If only these guys lived long enough to utilize it. Maul got split in half. Dooku was betrayed by Palps and got his head chopped off. Anakin got all his limbs lobbed off, was burned alive, and spent decades as Palpatine's little *****, servant boy. In fact, he was completely okay with his son taking his place, fully aware that Palpatine would betray him! Does the dark side have benefits and health care? I hope Han and Leia's son has a good plastic surgeon.

On a more serious note, Luke never told him or his other students about Anakin's redemption? About how Anakin loved his son so much that he threw Palpatine's ass down the Death Star pit and became a smiling Force Ghost at an Ewok celebration? Why doesn't Kylo Ren want to emulate THAT guy? Better yet, where's force ghost Anakin? He could have given his grandson some advice before all this Snoke and dark side crap.

Better yet General Leia should've just unleashed those vicious Ewoks, that would've been the end of them.

Just like it was a missed opportunity in the OT. Han mentions he does it in the OT and they didn't do it. Stupid movie.

On a more serious note, Luke never told him or his other students about Anakin's redemption? About how Anakin loved his son so much that he threw Palpatine's ass down the Death Star pit and became a smiling Force Ghost at an Ewok celebration? Why doesn't Kylo Ren want to emulate THAT guy? Better yet, where's force ghost Anakin? He could have given his grandson some advice before all this Snoke and dark side crap.

Episode 8 is the answer for all of this.

That's true. Not just Annie, but uncle Ben, Yoda, Liam Neeson...they should all be available for guidance. That's probably one of the reasons Luke didn't go to the darkside. After A New Hope.... it was stupid that Kenobi was not there for Vader for guidance. Like, why didn't he go back and guide him?

After A New Hope.... it was stupid that Vader was never explained. Just some big guy in a black suit of armor. How did he get that way. Very dumb.

After Empire Strikes Back... Palpatine was a joke. Just a holographic projection who did nothing.

To be fair, it's understandable for those films to have flaws...all films do, but for the new film to have the same flaws 30 years later, we have to be less forgiving this time.

They never defeated the empire, just a legion of ground troops. It's not a terribly done sequence IMO, it has its highs and lows, not perfectly executed.
