This might be the biggest opening weekend premiere in history , I can't see anyone watching any other movie in the theater this weekend.

Was Disney smart by buying the franchise or what. From all the reviews, makes we wonder maybe Lucas should've done this trilogy after ROTJ and then the PT :dunno

I still can't decide how I feel about TFA, and that breaks my heart a little. I so wanted to love the &%$$ out of this movie.

I do too. I was at a sold out showing and I didn't hear one snicker.

My audience was awesome. So glad we didn't have any cool kids wanting to show that they were not into the "big thing" right now......

They
Cheered at the crawl, Han and Chewie showing up, Leia showing up, laughed at appropriate moments, cheered when Kylo went against Rey.

No D'bags making fun of a movie to be "the bad boy" . We had alot of young kids too. I think the later shows will have a lot of people there who will just go to riff on star wars.

After 3 viewings I love how twisted Kylo is! My favorite scene other then him having a talk with Vader's helm is when he unmasks and

Drops his helmet into a podium filled with Vaders funeral pyre ashes!

Plot Analysis

Possible SPOILERS for Episode VIII & IX

My theories my be Bantha Poodoo.....but here they are in order......

Few years post Jedi
Luke decides to restart the Jedi Acadamy.
Begins with training His nephew and a few others.
Nephew turns bitter and angry during training because Daddy and Mommy are fighting
Daddy leaves, mommy is obsessed with her work.....
Luke struggles with teaching Ben control of his tangled emotions.
Luke meets someone and begins a ? Marriage? Love Affair??
Ben is now betrayed by his Uncle who now spends more time with his lady.( Mara Jade like?)
Lady get pregnant.
Kylo is ignored even more and begins hanging out with some cronies for attention (Knight of Ren) who like him because he is strong with the force.
Kylo begins torturing small animals (LOL)

Kylo the Teen Years
Kylo meets Snoke (who tells he a tale of his powerful grandfather and how he could have made everything right, if not for his weakness, the light side)
Kylo goes and gets Vaders Helm and his ASHES!!!!
Kylo rest said Helm in the ASHES of Vader (see side notes)
Kylo decides to become like Vader and use his power to bring peace to the galaxy...like Alexander the Great.
He begins by destroying the Jedi , as his grandfather did. Resentful of the 2 absent men in his world.

Post second Jedi destruction
Luke knows the threat to his daughter, Rey...hides her on Jakku with a trusted friend ( Lor San Tekka) to watch over (like his mentor Ben did with him)
He gives Lor San Tekka part of a map to find him...if needed.
Luke puts R2D2 to sleep...with part of a map on where to find him when the time comes.
He hopes his daughter will not feel the pull as he did as young man, but knows that Kylo could become another Darth Vader...and that he will need her help to defeat him...as Obi Wan did with Luke. (He's too old for this sort of thing)
He hides himself from the world...feeling he is making things worse not better..until someone else..more powerful and wise can help him.
Rey is too young to remember much (4 years old?) (see post notes)
Rey is left alone on Jakku...but taught that she is waiting for her family to return....and she HAS to be there for this event.

Fast forward to TFA

NOTES

This is all wild speculation about random things...

Han knows nothing of Rey...it all happened after his mid life crisis...He had left already. 10 years between Kylo's birth and Rey's

Rey KNOWS Han Solo...she says it....she remember being told about him as a child, and she knows his not as General Solo like Finn, her recollection is more personal.

Rey is pulled by the Force to her destiny, even before Luke can return for her...

She gets a full blast of who she is when she touched the light saber. She begins to remember.
She recalls who she is after calming herself during her battle with Kylo, and the memories return, including those of her Aunt (who she greets with sadness, now remembering who she is, and that her Aunts love has been killed by his son (her cousin).

Chewie gives her a very peculiar look when she joins him on the Falcon. Hes looking at her as Daughter of Skywalker.........looking for resemblance.

Rey knows Luke is her Father now. Luke know Rey is is Daughter.....He is tearing up because Han is dead, His daughter is now involved, and expects him to go through everything again...everything he FAILED at.

Another weird theory.

The ASHES Kylo keeps his helmet in, may be imbued with the Dark side. Kylo seems most powerful with the dark side Dark when he has the Helm on....(Anonymity also can make people mean...see internet trolls). Perhaps this makes him more evil...wearing a helm that rests in Vader ashes....

When Vader was burned his mortal body turned to ashe and his force spirit returned to the heros which Luke saw at the end of Jedi. Perhaps its a comment on our mortal bodies corrupting the Light Side due to our human urges and desires....which vanish when we are freed from our bodies?

Snoke...may be the Emporers force spirit in another body..alla Voldemort. He is very wounded...and old whomever he is.

I congratulate all who read my mind dump here...I would love to here what you think....

Forgot to add....

Was the Falcon really there by coincidence? That does seem a stretch, unless you consider someone put it there intentionally so a certain space pirate would make his way there?

No one laughed in my screening that I noticed, but I think there was an audible surprise that he was just some guy. Also, fortunately, there was no one cheering at this or that that I noticed. The girl sitting next to me said "aaaawwwww" about 50 times, though, sometimes inappropriately :lol

The character's got quite the cult following at the moment in there and any mention of "emo" or bratty angst is meant with the same defensive fervor as if you were talking about their mom. When he's yelling, hacking stuff up and yelling traitor, I definitely had visions of Anakin ranting and getting all pissy. Hell, Kylo has a face scar like Anakin now. It makes sense since he's a Vader wannabe though.
Don't doubt the Fabio, folks! :lecture

That, and the thing with the two Droids being needed to put together a map of how to find Luke seemed too convenient to be a coincidence. I suspect there will be discussion of some great plan that was put in place to get Rey to Luke, for the purpose of being trained I guess? To overcome the dark side?

Though the way Ray handed Kylo his ass, I'm not sure what extra training she'll need!

Tell me they just did not just repackage the best parts of episode 4 and 5 and resell it to us. This had to be the most blantant thing I have ever seen. What a joke

Was it just me, or was the bit with the rathtars a bit star trekky?

The ship's interior reminded me of Alien (or The Matrix, also due to the Asian gang members).

One way of rationalising TFA's parallels with ANH is if Rey is Luke's daughter, maybe her journey mirrors his? And Kylo's mirrors Anakin's?

How would you rank the troopers of each film

Battle Droids
Clone Troopers
Storm troopers
F.O. Storm troopers

Feel free to add what reasons on your rankings

ROTS Clone Troopers (most competent, slaughtered Jedi)
ESB Stormtroopers (swiftly took out the rebels on Hoth)

AOTC Clone Troopers
ANH Stormtroopers

ROTJ Stormtroopers (beaten by midgets dressed as teddy bears)
First Order Stormtroopers (defacting soldiers, a captain that gives in and betrays her side and gets her men killed)

Battle Droids, all movies (Roger, roger, nuff said)

I'd be afraid of an army that had the ROTS clones, the Empire Snowtroopers and those rolling Destroyer Droids with the shield things. Those three would be unstoppable. All three look intimidating too.

Saw it for a third time today. Love it more each time I see it. I watched it today with the mindset of Rey being Han and Leia's daughter. It COULD work....just not a huge fan of the idea. Hope her parents are someone else. If not Luke's, then I hope she is truly a nobody. But I fear she will have to be the daughter of someone "important". Oh well. Here is hoping whatever they have planned it makes sense and doesn't feel too forced. Have I mentioned I am ecstatic that Rian Johnson is writing and directing 8? Because the way Abrams set it up, Johnson should be able to delve deeper into the mind of Kylo Renn and deal with his complexities even further. This franchise is in good hands I feel. Bring on Episode 8 and Luke Skywalker!!!!

Just returned from 2nd viewing.

Yes, better.

Went down smoother.

My butt hurt on how Han was handled has diminished. See below for the reason.

So here is review 2.0:

Positives:

Rey/Finn/Poe/BB8/Kylo, all good to great.

First Order attack on Jack Off.

Falcon escape from Jakku (love/hate relationship with that name) is drop dead spectacular. Jakku just has to be Tattooine.

Chewie kicks some serious ass in this one, I enjoyed his fluid motions and mannerisms, in ROTS he was horrble.

Snoke's voice.

Lightsaber battle and the lighting!

No one said "I hate sand".

Luke's introduction made me tear up, this alone is what is helping me come out of my Han anger.

Negatives:

End dog fight attack against the base was just ok.

Pilot chatter in OT served a purpose and very memorable, here it didn't serve any purpose and they say nothing memorable. This I agree was missing some soul.

Why didn't Leia go visit the brother she's dying to find?! Why, why, why! Makes no freaking sense, especially after Han was killed by Luke's nephew!

Snoke's face.

New music. :(

Rey not shown swimming naked in a lake.

Yeah, i'll buy the bluray.

Still 95% RT meter and 8.8 imdb... which is really freakin' high as far as imdb ratings go.

I have to admit the hate does really come off as "hipster cool kid".

Finally saw it, it was a solid 6.5/10, it looked like SW, but it felt like tumblr fanfic, felt less authentic than the EU, most of it anyway, I've seen some people who said the prequels felt more like SW, I agree, although this is better than the prequels, but only because they played it cowardly safe, and before anyone says I hate it because it's too much like the OT, no, it's because they're literally stealing from the OT.

Kylo was such a ****** character, I suppose he's supposed to be a ****** character, a whiny retarded brat, maybe the sequels will make more sense of him, he was visually cool, he had cool powers, but as a character he wasn't imposing, his "motives" are dumb and I don't see them being explained to the point of not being a spoiled brat, it actually made me cancel my SHF POs.

Han's death should not detract from the from the movie, Rey, Finn and Poe were great, and yeah, it made 0 sense that Leia hugged Rey instead of Chewie.

I have no problem with Rey beating an injured Kylo, specially if Rey is sensitive to the force.

Snoke was eh.

The rest was very enjoyable, it was structurally solid, honestly it wasn't the second coming and it didn't quite wash away the prequels, it was just, there, it felt quite unnecessary but it's definitely much better than Jurassic World, I'm ok with this movie being popular as opposed to JW or TG.
