So many people seem to not really like this movie. Backlash is likely going to get worst with time; it never gets better.

Too bad. I really liked this movie more than I thought I would. Although it was rather slim on content and had a ridiculous super-weapon, even for a Star Wars movie.

I mean, sucking up a sun... and the snow never melted???

I've come to an odd place with movies. I leave a theater often now and don't know if I really liked a movie or not. It seems to require picking it up on Blu and a home viewing before I really know. I never used to be that way, but for some weird reason the 1st viewing in the theater just leaves me wondering.....may e I'm just getting old and can't take it all in the 1st time :lol

This board is nothing to go by really. Mostly a select handful of haters. Yet everyone i've talked to had a great time. And that's what you want with a SW movie. It's kinda funny with these people, it's like what were you expecting a Stanley Kubrick-Esq type movie? LOL.

Star Wars has always been goofy. Space Opera nothing else.

That weapon was silly.

Would've it been that difficult to just go with lasers again? :lol

The main question is:

Did the movie feel like SW to you?

But even goofy has quality levels. :lol

Tell that to the millions of SW fanboys who think this film is the second coming. Better yet, go to the SW figure forums and tell that to those Crylo Ren lovers. I've seen comments on FB of SW fanboys calling this film a masterpiece. :lol

I think many of the people who have a problem with TFA are those who don't realise that the magic of a childhood movie experience can't possibly be replicated as an adult.

I would've liked to see a bit more risk-taking from Abrams, but when I consider all the people he's having to please I think he's delivered a very good result.

Someone I know -- unrelated to this board -- has a 14 year old son and that son, and all his knucklehead buddies, apparently were laughing through the movie and said it was so corny and silly. I can't speak for all 14 year old boys, but I know this kid and he's a pretty level-headed good kid.

I wonder how the "new" generation feels about this movie -- or is Star Wars really just "your father's franchise" and not for the next gen?

I remember Cofphoto's video -- he cried, his son looked uninterested and said about Han: "Look its the guy from Ender's Game."

I think it did, yes. A Star Wars 30 years further ahead. I think everyone's been poisoned by the PT when it comes to what to expect from a Star Wars movie. ANH really did start out as an Adventure Story... and I felt this was an Adventure Story. Even if much of it is forgettable after 1st viewing.

That's interesting. I have no idea what the kids are into these days.

I think you're correct, up to a certain age.

I'm not about to ruin any of this for my son.

He is enjoying it.

Well said Wor.

SW light is still SW.

It was a decent adventure movie, and it came off very natural.

The movie overall has left me with positive thoughts.

I loved the OT when I was 10/13/16.

Although at 16 the Ewoks bugged the crap out of me. :lol

Well, 14 year Olds today aren't the same as they were in the 70s either. Many today are disrespectful punks who make fun of everything........especially around their friends. Sure, that stuff went on in the 70s too, but today is still different. Half the kids are too busy texting during the movie to pay attention.

I really don't think there's that much hate for this movie out there, on the contrary, I think people are really enjoying.
This board is by no means a reflection of the outside world...

I enjoyed the movie, and I will buy the Bluray and watch the movie again with my kids.

It didn't feel very Star Warsy to me, and there's lots of silly stuff, but it's a fun movie to watch and it works wonderfully well with the others, so I'm happy.

You should see it at my family's business.

The second the women, from 18 to 30 lets say, pull up to the gas pumps and put it into park they immediately start texting.

The don't even look at the attendant when they're telling him how much gas they want. :lol

Almost every single women in that age group does this.

Most of the time they text while driving too. I see maybe 2 or 3 of 10 men texting while driving and probably 6 or 7 of 10 women.....in that age group.

I am this way with some movies. I just always think some movies would be better off as TV shows or mini series.

I took my 16 year old daughter and she enjoyed it more than I did. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed it, but I really did feel I was watching something I had already seen. I left the theater loving Rey, but not much else. I was starting to dig Ren until he took off the helmet and spoke. He then became this whiny kid and I couldn't get Christensen out of my head. Finn was an okay character, but I really didn't care if he bailed or not. Also, as a trooper he looked very awkward and heavy-set. I did get a chill when Star Wars popped on screen and the music started.

Yeah, when Finn was going to "leave" with those 2 very unremarkable cantina dudes, I was like yawn....I didn't buy the intended drama. :lol

I can also confirm that the SW text crawl music sounded thin in both theaters I went to.

I also don't have a deep desire to see it again soon. I'll wait for home release. For me some distance from initial viewing allows me to rethink and reassess my thoughts. I really didn't get the love for Fury Road when I first saw it, but appreciated it more on my second viewing a couple of months later. I can't stand Birdman with the exception of a couple scenes, but will give it another try some time in the future.
