Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Who'd have thunk it only 2 or 3 months ago. That there'd not only be a sequel trilogy of Star Wars films but the guy who revamped Star Trek would be doing Star Wars aswell.

He's also trying to get the rights to the Terminator franchise.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I actually wouldn't mind that. I'd certainly feel more hopeful about a decent Terminator film from him than any other names I hear.

I see a JJ cross-universe extravaganza where the Star Trek guys cross into the Star Wars universe when a rogue T-800 gums up their timeline.

Brilliant!!!

He's also trying to get the rights to the Terminator franchise.

That would potentially also be kind of awesome!

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Whether you like him or not, he's the only experienced director who'll touch it. He knows his reputation could be blown to pieces if he upsets all the fanboys who have very fixed expectations on what should be in a Star Wars film.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

The way I see it, Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker, Peter Mayhew, and Billy Dee Williams would have to return to make it work.

The way I see Star Wars: Episode VII

Yoda, Vader, The Emperor, are dead.
Leia has come into her Jedi/Force powers.
Luke is the new Jedi Master teaching a new class of soon to be Jedi the ways of the force. The class includes Han & Leia Solo's young adult children. They must all work together to take on a new threat to the galaxy! :D

Just my thoughts Disney. :D

It sounds like Ben Affleck was very interested as well. That would've been an interesting choice.

It will be interesting to see who get the nod for EPS 8 & 9. I'd kinda like different filmmakers again. One of the best things about the OT is how each one has a different feel/tone yet makes a cohesive whole.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Oh and any word on who is doing the FX for this film Disney? I would LOVE for Dan Platt and his crew to do the FX on this one! Just look at the Mindblowing job they did on the FX for Tron Legacy! :D

Thanks Disney! :D

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Star Wars needed more lens flairs. Perhaps now we will get them.

We simply can't repel lensflare of that magnitude.

So will Spock show up in Ep.7 to maintain cross-pollination?

It'll be ILM. Disney bought them, too. Kathleen Kennedy and Lucasfilm (now a Disney subsidiary, but still functioning indepently, like Marvel) are running the show.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Not one of those pictures uses a real anamorphic lens. So they're terrible.

Why not? The vast majority of JJ-helmed projects I've seen have been very good. Terminator has been crap since 1984. . .uh, I mean 1991 (don't kill me Uncle Bob fans! :D ). Would be very very hard to be worse than T3 and Salvation.

Woo!

Seriously though, I don't think offending the geek audiences would be a major concern to many major directors. Could hurt the bottom line of a film, but with Star Wars I doubt it matters very much. Lucas crapped on everything that came before and audiences just ate those movies up.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

It would be well funny if someone posted a lens flare joke.:explode:

If T2 is crap, The Terminator is definitely a steaming pile of crap.
