Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

It would be well funny if someone posted a lens flare joke.:explode:

Yeah the internets have been amazingly quiet on that front. :cuckoo:

What's a lens flare? And why do people keep mentioning them in relation to JJ? I asked him this morning what this lens flare thing was all about and he told me he had no idea. :dunno

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

The internet made the whole lens flair joke old and tired literally less than 2 hours after the news hit yesterday.

I personally like the lens flare...I think it's artistic and puts a "signature" on his movies.

Give lens flares a chance!

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

With JJ on board I think the time travel rumors could be true. Mostly with Vader coming back.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I just threw up in my mouth a little.

I do not dig time travel, and it does not belong in Star Wars. :lecture

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Honestly, it's selfish of me. But time travel just confuses the poodo out of me...

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

It will be interesting to see who get the nod for EPS 8 & 9. I'd kinda like different filmmakers again. One of the best things about the OT is how each one has a different feel/tone yet makes a cohesive whole.

I agree. I don't want JJ Abrams to feel like this is "his" trilogy. I want each director competing to make the single best SW film possible.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

And we will have JJ's vision for the film plus other peoples, we didn't get that before.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I do not dig time travel,

I disagree. I looove time travel, flashbacks, and intricate plot structures.

and it does not belong in Star Wars. :lecture

:lecture Agreed. It has no part in this universe and it'd be too much to throw on audiences. Is this a SuperShadow plot or a real rumor?

I agree. I don't want JJ Abrams to feel like this is "his" trilogy. I want each director competing to make the single best SW film possible.

I also agree. I'd kinda love Ben Affleck to helm one. Jon Favreau I could go either way on. I've got nothing against the guy. But the composer, whomever they choose, needs to stay throughout.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Jesus, the amount of pics being generated poking fun at the Abrams lens flair is astounding. I knew it would be a hot topic, but wow. :lol He is going to rock the **** out of these sequels, can't wait.

:lecture

He didn't disappoint with Star Trek so I'm sure he will do justice to Star Wars.

Time travel? Wow, that would be a little far feched. I would travel to Tattonine and train Anakin to not be a whiney, cry baby p***y, then kill Jar Jar.

It will be a whole new story with Luke as the OB1 master jedi role, and some new Darth Sith will be awaken from the past, I envision large space battles and ground assaults with sabers. I think it will be a fanboys wet dream, similar to the Knights of the Old Republic mmo opening cgi extravaganza.

sent from my R2 unit

Episode 7: JJ Abrams

Episode 8: Ben Affleck

Episode 9: Brad Bird

Me = :hi5:

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I'd kind of like to see either Guy Ritchie or Neill Blomkamp take a crack at one of the Episodes. Definitely moreso than Abrams. Heck I'd probably prefer your boy Snyder over him.*

*Hoping Snyder sees the above and sends me that autographed SP book.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

FWIW, Zack is literally one of the biggest Star Wars geeks I know. And that should say a lot. I still can't personally grasp the notion of him ever doing a SW flick (which still may or may not be a possibility at some point). I think my brain would implode. :lol

Blomkamp would be a great choice.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I think the chemistry Ritchie created in his "Sherlock Holmes" casting choices and the balance between stylized action and entertaining banter would make him a great choice for a SW film as well.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I know Affleck hasn't done a huge film in this genre, but he's already a great director. 3-for-3 with solid films. And the reason I'm glad to hear he was in contention as well (and hopefully for one of the next ones) is because he's also "one of us" and grew up with SW. In fact, if you've seen ARGO you know there are a couple of moments in the film featuring vintage SW figures that literally capture that era perfectly. He's definitely qualified.
