I'd argue that Kylo Ren is more original than Rey. Rey is not really original, she's just a girl.

True, still...she's better than Trinity from The Matrix sequels.

Midichlorians, what are midichlorians?

When Snoke turns out to be Plagueis, the midichlorians will be redeemed.

Even prequel defenders/boosters such as myself can admit TFA is a better made film.

But can you TFA fans admit the PT is more original?

Put another way: TFA = fan service, PT = Lucas self-service (cue crass memes!)

Both have their merits.

Whether he likes the PT or not, Trevorrow says Ep IX will "ignore nothing" and "respect everything" that has gone before.

And he's also the least talented one out of the whole lot. :lol

In all seriousness, I wasn't even referring to him, because I fear his EP9 (I think his JURASSIC WORLD script was garbage and his directing pedestrian, at best). Plus, he's prone to just ramble in interviews (he talked up JW in ways that never even came close). But, Abrams, Kasdan, Rian Johnson, Gareth Edwards and the writers of ROGUE ONE... those guys can't stand the prequels. Kathleen Kennedy doesn't really care for them, either, but in her position she has to be MUCH more politically savvy about it, of course. Still, you never hear her praise them, either. Which is pretty telling. The folks left at LFL who have the most attachment to the PT and that era are Filloni and his REBELS team.

That said, they're not exactly going out of their way to ignore the prequels, either. They're just using the OT as the frame of reference for how these new movies are made aesthetically, as well as a reliance on characters above all else. But at least a few of those guys really, really don't like those movies. I doubt they'll say much about it publicly at this point, though. Besides, they have Simon Pegg hanging around to sling (and take) those arrows. :lol

Kasdan hasn't really held back, though JJ has been more diplomatic. But yeah, it makes sense to go for more of an OT vibe, if only for chronological reasons.

As for Disney, it's happy to sell merchandise from any and all SW eras.

I don't care what vibe they go for as long as they make good movies that aren't bland copies of previous ones.

I was thinking long and hard.. Kylo has to be a double agent. I mean sure i dont like EU trashed... but... after reading posts on Han switching on Saber... the whole finished what you started just kept going in head over and over till it clicked... Ben is going to finally bring balance to the Force by what Chosen One was supposed to do. If Luke had told Ben the truth of Vader and heresay Obi-Wan told prophecy later on to Luke of the Chosen One. Then in fact being that Empire existed still with dark presence Ben being a double agent to eradicate the Sith makes perfect sense. So Rey could end up killing a very important key character. :lol

I don't know why some people think Han turned on the lightsaber?

sorry, but your grasping at straws with this one.
