Why bother bringing it up in the film? I mean if the character doesn't have a love interest, don't bring it up for the sake of seeming inclusive, let people interpret that aspect for themselves, by spelling it out, you sort of prevent people from identifying with characters in their own way.

DC comics did something similar. I bought the"first appearance" heroes line, and a few years later DC made the original Green Lantern, Alan Scott gay.
