Rey is Lukes daughter, kylo used to look after her as a kid, they were very close. When he turned bad and the Knights of Ren destroyed the Jedi academy, he saved her and killed one of the Knights who was about to kill her (in the vision) kylo took Rey and hid her on Jaaku. According to new ECU Jaaku has more relevance to the first order than is apparent from TFA. No one else knew she survived. Luke thought his daughter died with her mother at the massacre. Which is why he is confused and emotional at the end. He thought she was dead for years, but sensed her when her powers awakened.. Kylo is living with that knowledge, he was too weak to kill her, thus all the relevance of the weakness of family ties just like Vader. It's why killing solo was so important. And his freak out "what girl"...

...or something..

:lol

I think you are spot on. It's what I believe too and dammt, Disney better deliver that story line or I am going to let loose a ROAR OF ENTITLEMENT the likes of which have never been seen on this board. :lol

I wish TFA wasn't so much like the OT.

I wish the Starkiller Base attack was more like the Death Star attacks.

:lol

Nah the OT is sacred to me too, even Jedi. I wouldn't fault anyone for putting them above TFA. We all have our individual rankings, even SW and ESB seem to be pretty evenly split between those comparing the two.

Being honest after my home viewing I am lowering my score on it, JAWS is right about the size and scope, I would definately choose ROTJ over it now, and it has nothing to do with all that Mary Sue crap talk.

I did cringe when Finn started acting all goofy at Starkiller base against Phasma and Solo.

"Why do you keep knodding your head like this..hunh Solo?"

Ughhh.

I like Finn but not as much as the OT heroes or Rey. Rey is right up there with Han, Luke, and Leia. Poe is somewhere around Lando and Wedge. Still cool but of the new generation Rey alone carries TFA on her shoulders.

The bromance between Poe and Finn was a welcome surprise for me. It wasn't something I'd ever seen in a Star Wars film before and I loved that dynamic.

Yep, that was where Finn really shined. Playing off of Poe, Rey, and Han (even BB-8.) I could watch Rey bake bread by herself all day but Finn came into his own when he had someone to play off of.

They negotiation scene he had with BB-8 was hilarious.
I liked Rey alot too. I chalked her piloting skills up to her upbringing on Jakku. When Rey told Finn that she was a pilot she said it with supreme confidence just like Han Solo would so it didn't bother me at all that she was such a great pilot.

Her force powers and her flashbacks make me believe she might have had Jedi training at such an early age (they do like them young) that she may have forgotten it over time after the incident that caused Luke to vanish.

The good in ROTJ > the good in TFA.

Jedi has some great goosebump giving scenes. :) Plus I don't hate EWOKS. Just watch this to see why

:lol :lol

JAWS's opinion is just too seducing, must give in. :lol

Well if you are already going to steal an idea from the first film you should make it bigger and more exciting.... Not smaller and less exciting.

I did not mind that scene too much. Its trying hard to have that playful spirit of the first film. But there should be more action going on with that playfulness. The Death Star Rescue was full of fun but it was also full of action. I actually really like Finn, Poe, and Rey. I am looking forward to seeing more of them in the next films.

I think what the bloggers are saying is right about the vision is a foreshadowing

This sequence is the future maybe Ep VIII

Is this the future too. The parents leaving her and then the red..Rey joining the darkside?

Did Rey envision meeting Maz as well

Yeah I use to always have Empire as the top one but while I think its the better movie the original SW is just so easy to watch at any time. They are both Five star Classics and in my top three movies of all time. But If I could only watch one for the rest of my life I would probably pick SW.... Then spend the rest of my life kicking myself for not picking Empire :lol

The Mary Sue stuff will only have merit to me if they don't explain it in a meaningful way. Like she Had been training as a child and had her memory erased as well as being the most force sensitive being ever. :)

If she is just good at things because..... Well because.... Then I am going to jump on the Mary Sue Bandwagon :lol

But as is I like her character and think she is great in the movie.

And yeah I really believe the size and scope could have been larger it would have helped the film.

Oh yeah and having the original Star Wars Blaster sound effects. The new ones were too quiet. There was a hint of the old sound F/x but not enough.

Some of those ground battles would have been helped by

That is seeing were Luke is at... The island and the Ocean. I am guessing he can see where she is going to be going.

I took it to mean that she was looking at what she would look like in 60 years if her family did not come back.

Yeah, if the prequel dialogue was too Shakespearean, Finn's was just too dumb and annoying.

Regarding the scope, after GOTG (and even ROTS) showed us how chaotic and immersive a space battle could be, I was expecting similar from TFA. Instead we got something "small" like the Death Star I battle.

I'm putting TFA roughly in the same league as ROTJ and ROTS. Haven't decided on my final order.
