Yeah. Too much information from jye.

(Again!)

:lol

I see that. :lol

Anyone notice that the Starkiller Base cannon glowed dark red for a split second before the base imploded? We were watching it on blu-ray and my daughter commented "ooh the gun was about to fire" and so I checked again and sure enough you do see that it does turn red in sharp contrast with the yellow sun glow of the rest of the explosion.

I always thought it would have been cool if back in 1977 Lucas had had the three green beams of the Death Star come together and THEN it blew up before it could get the shot off and it looks like Abrams kind of went that "down to the very last second" route.

That weapon was silly though, they should've just stuck with a simple laser.

What weapon? Starkiller? It was a total live-action version of Macross/Robotech's "Grand Cannon!" Skip to 1 min 37 seconds:

I'm sorry but since you don't appreciate Robotech your opinion is invalid.

Next issue!

Robotech rules- I couldn't wait to get home after school at 4 pm to watch it- was hooked on it like a soap opera- great show.

No, they should've stuck with the original idea, which was it harnessed both Dark Matter and mystical Dark Energy that allowed them to select specific systems to wipe out. It didn't shoot out like a laser... It just washed over the entire galaxy and "removed" which ever planets they chose. Basically, it was taking the Dark Side of the force and literally using it as a super weapon. I thought that was interesting. It's still in the novelization, actually.

We need a Macross live action film but I know they are going to screw it up royaly so why bother.......?

Yes they would but with TFA we're already halfway there with Starkiller Base/Grand Cannon, Supreme Leader Snoke/Emperor Dolza, Poe basically being a SW version of Max Sterling and the redesigned X-Wing helmets that look more like Robotech:

Plus other iconic visuals seemingly lifted directly from the series. Veritechs skimming the ocean:

Ummm...yeah....please disregard my complaint, Starkiller's sun weapon was awesome! :lol

I watched it on BD three times so far- gotta give it a rest now

Nine times in the theater, once on the plane, three times on blu, I'm just getting started! :yess:

And even though my nitpicks of things I wished were different in TFA can pretty much be measured in milliseconds (adding an extra half-sentence to the opening scroll clarifying the time between Jedi and TFA, having a couple more cockpit shots of dying X-Wing pilots, making Maz a combination of practical and CGI like the fantastic Unkar Plutt) I do agree that the Dark Matter Starkiller weapon sounds like it would have been a pretty rad idea. :rock

I like Unkar's voice but his design was uninspiring, especially those fake looking man boobs. :lol

Then again most of the aliens looked crappy in this.

While I agree that information about the previous 32 years was needed I don't know if a sentence in the crawl would've sufficed.

The lack of history almost insulates the OT.

Maybe it was purposedly omitted.

Nine times in the theater! Is that usual for a movie you like or did this one really speak to you?
