Admit it, a Cameron Star Wars movie would blow away TFA!

This is Neytiri silently judging you.

That's exactly why JJ wanted this scene filmed in the script ..JJ is such a geek.. I love it :lol

Not geek enough if he couldn't see Leia hugging Chewie. :monkey3

I'm assuming it's a deliberate homage given that Abrams was quite up front about studying Kurosawa, Ford, and Mallick prior to shooting TFA.

Not as much as ANH it seems. :lol

He was really thinking, "It's like creating the Bible, except better and more important."

Gosh. I want his movies to fail so spectacularly. I can't explain it.

Oh my gosh Jim, that's just so UNPRECEDENTED! Filming an 8 hour saga at once! What's next, someone takes a classic book series and films a NINE hour trilogy all at once? Nah, no one will ever match the awesomeness of what James Cameron is doing right now.

So this man really thinks we need another 4 movies to truly tell the tale of Avatar...?

When genius goes delusional. Seems to happen to almost all great minds given time.

And for James, way too much time in the deep blue...

Looks like Daisy Ridley will be starring in "Kolma" in between Star Wars films instead of Tomb Raider. Good for her.

Kolma is based on the 2003 Israeli TV movie All I’ve Got (Kol Ma She’Yesh Li), which tells the story of a young woman who survives a car accident that kills her boyfriend. When she reaches the afterlife decades later, she must choose between returning to her first love with no memory of her later years or remaining as she is to await the passing of her longtime husband.

Daisy Ridley to reunite with J.J. Abrams on fantasy-romance Kolma | EW.com

It's still fantasy but sounds like more of an artsy "The Lovely Bones" type fantasy and hardly another event movie. Looking forward to it.

If you mean the real James Cameron that was lost at sea after T2, then yes, I'll admit it. The mimic water alien that's been making movies ever since, hell no.

We lost Cameron after ALIENS. That guy had some balls and made great intense action. Then he fell in love wth CGI and making R rated family movies and crappy big budget love stories.

If you think about it. TFA was a Cameron Star Wars movie. He stole the ending from ALIEN for ALIENS and basically remade T1 when he made T2. So TFA seems right up Cameron's skill level :lol

Anyone seen these pictures yet? Price Harry in one of the spaceships from EP8

JJ on his best day doesn't reach Cameron on his worst.

Nothing JJ has created has blown me away.

I agree that JJ isn't as great a director as Cameron on the whole, but I would probably put Force Awakens on the same level as Avatar. Both were good and had fancy special effects. Neither was great or particularly original. But otherwise (having never seen Pirranha 2) everything from Cameron, including Titanic, would beat anything I've seen from JJ.

Rey, Kylo Ren, and BB-8 were instant icons. Ask any random person on the street who the *main girl* was in the highest grossing film of all time and watch their eyes glaze over in confusion. Then ask them who the main villain was in the highest grossing movie of all time. The entire world saw Avatar. Three times each. And nobody retained ****. Not so with TFA my man. :lecture

Ah brilliant! Shall do. I couldn't find the thread!

No problem. ;)

Actually he stole the ending of Star Wars for ALIENS too. The dropship fleeing the complex right before it explodes is almost a note for note copy of the final moments of the Death Star.

Regarding Abrams filmography, I don't remember much about MI3 (other than I thought it was decent at the time,) I actually really like Super 8, I think that one is an overlooked gem, neither Star Trek film did anything for me but TFA is far above anything Cameron has done post ALIENS. The Terminator and ALIENS are both pure genius though.
