And, no, Rey is not reicarnated Anakin.

LOL! That would be the most horrible twist in cinematic history if true. :lol

The level of resistance that this theory is still being met with to this day is reason enough for KK & Rian Johnson to do it.

SW fans who live in these absolute approaches to the new canon are never going to be happy with anything they come up with anyway.

I feel like if ESB was the movie coming out next year and rumors were circulating about Vader being Luke's father I'd encounter the same foolish online reactions completely dismissing said possibility.

No, Darth Vader is not Luke Skywalker's father.

Vader being Luke's father was shocking and unexpected and would have been resisted because in ANH Obi-Wan said Vader killed Luke's father. Resisting an outlandish reincarnation theory is something completely different.

I'm not knocking whoever came up with this but it is kinda out there. Might make for a good EU comic book run but not a good storyline for the SW movies.

It can't happen for two reasons. 1) I'd have to quit Star Wars. And 2) I can't quit Star Wars. :lol

I still distinctly remember hearing the rumour in the playground about Vader being Luke's father.

There was a little disbelief at first, but it was accepted as a neat revelation.

I don't remember how the rumour got around, unless it was from a novelisation, since back then novels for movies seemed to come out before the movies themselves.

The hate for Abrams here is absurd. Guy's a very talented filmmaker and TFA is not a remake of ANH.

In all honesty I really enjoyed the movies I was aware that Abrams directed. I like his style. And, I agree, TFA has similarities to ANH for sure but to say it's a remake is a hyperbole.

How come nobody ever complains that the Toy Story movies are similar? I mean all 3 TS movies have the same basic plot.
Man, I never cared for TS and only remember the first sequel.
Talkin' about overrated. :lol
Maybe I'd appreciate them more if they weren't 3D...

No hate at all. I just don't understand animated 3D. I mean, you can create realistic things with 3D so what's the point in fakin' volumetric 2D with it? Either do 2D or shoot live action with added 3D.
