Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

It might happen... But I somehow doubt it.

Star Wars toy liscense is held by hasbro, not Disney. It's possible though, getting the joe movie liscense might have been related.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I really hope we get some cool new news by the end of the month at the celebration

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I don't think we'll hear anything until the end of the year, they'll be filming early next year and the next thing they would announce is casting which they won't do until right about the time they start filming.

I'm wondering if it might get delayed, it's a very short time to get the FX done.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

As fast as Disney is pumping out movies, I will be surprised if there is a delay.

I also hope Disney sees the wisdom in getting back to the roots of Star Wars and keeps the CGI to a minimum.

They can keep that; the CGI is cool; just keep the green screen to a minimum.

Delay?

Think business, not art.

After the Lone Ranger box office performance the investors will demand SW to be released asap!

No kidding huh? $29 mil opening for Lone Ranger on a Holiday Weekend?!

I imagine some heads will roll at Disney, the amount they spent on promoting the film this weekend was probably more than that.

Bet they thought since Depp was in it that it was a sure thing, just cant pour money ($215 Million budget) into just anything and expect a blockbuster franchise to come of it.

Marketing budget for the film was reported to be around 175 million. They screwed the pooch on this one...big time. John Carter anyone??

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Some of the CGI, looked terrible in the PT, like the cartoon Yoda. really hope it looks and feels more like the OT.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

All the CGI looked terrible in the Prequels.

everyone looks like plastic.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

That Diner dude from AOTC, what was his name, Dex or something.

That Diner scene with that stupid walking Dugg represents everything wrong with the PT, just painful to watch.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Dex was awesome. I don't see Depp being up to snuff.

On the film special features, they break that whole Ewan & Dex hug sequence right down in terms of the effects used.

It was a massive undertaking to get them to cuddle on screen. :lol

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Considering the prequels each cost just a little more than $100 million, I bet with a budget like $200 million they could do something awesome. Still, the FX were better than half the movies today that cost more. Like Lone Ranger, where did the money go there?
