Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

...I never liked the Ep II and III Anakin guy too

Well thats the problem. Who did like him...at any point. The knowledge that, as it turns out, Vader was always a whiny arsehole sort of detracts from the 'tragedy' of his turn to the darkside.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Why do you prefer the 97 ANH over the 2004 version? That 97 Jabba is horrific.

Battle of Yavin. I like the scene with Jabba. The effects? Not so much. How hard is it to make him look like Jabba in RotJ?! But it's all about the Battle of Yavin for me. Perhaps I'll take the originals with just THAT update?

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Well that's what I'm saying. The 2004 ANH has all the same Battle of Yavin updates but with a much better Jabba.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

the 1997 Jabba is a fricking joke lol, I was watching it and it was like a ****ty cartoon. haha

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Even on the new blu ray JABS doesnt look like he did in ROTJ.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Oh yeah, I don't bother with any special edition version of the OT but I'd think if you did you'd have to lean toward 2004 over 97 at least.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

The Millenium Falcon will be found by Ben Skywalker or Anakin Solo, rusting away in a Toydarian junk yard. Or maybe Han is still out there flying in it??

Hope they keep the original ships from thE OT.

No, they screwed up a lot of the colors and tints in that version. The Death Star is very blue instead of gray. Luke's saber is green instead of blue. Vader's is pink!!!! :slap

I might as well watch the original technical goofs that doesn't alter any of the characterization that their sad and pathetic attempt at fixing the mistakes from the original. And that's what I do. I just like that Battle of Yavin with the updated action scenes. ESB and RotJ have much better effects in that regard and I appreciated the facelift to make ANH fit the sequels better.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I would love for them to do the grand admiral thrawn trilogy, but it would be hard for them to pull off if they dont re cast everyone. given the ages of the actors it would be hard, unless they decide to set that story line about 30 yrs following return of the jedi. I just dont see that happening though

ideally id love to see luke skywalker re establishing the jedi order, with his limited knowledge. maybe the jedi academy trilogy, bringing ancient sith teaching from say exar kun into the mix. there is a lot they can pull from the expanded universe

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I would love to see a film on the younger Palpatine and his master...I think that would be interesting

the possibilities are endless...

they can do trilogies upon trilogies. but i would also love to see some interlude movies as well. maybe a movie or two set in between current episodes. they can go off on a tangent and make a movie about boba fett (it would be awesome if they bring him back in episodes 7 - 9!!!). and they can go back to the old republic (think about the ancient sith say during the timeline of knights of the old republic), or darth bane!

imagine movies about bounty hunters, the mandolorians, smugglers, stories about jedi set thousands of years after the battle of endor...my head is exploding thinking of the possibilities.

regardless, i hope if there is any continuity that the movie will at least feature r2 and 3po

what i would also love to see would be a clone wars type animation, but set during the rebellion with han, luke and leia

They'd have to cut a lot out of Zahn's novels. They're good, but you have to force yourself to read through a lot of monotony to get to the meat and potatoes. A good chunk of that would be an utter snoozefest on screen. :lol

Like Lord of the Rings then. In any case, I'm sure the actors are too old to play the characters at the ages they are on those books. Dammit.

well you will usually get that with any film adapted from books. look at the lotrs trilogy. they may be able to pull a story from those books, but again, i dont think itd work based on the ages of the actors in relation where the storyline falls

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

The Hype for this is going to be on scale with ep1. No you say? Nothing will reach that level again? After the disappointment of those movies, this is a lot of fans second chance if you will at good SW movies. And and a lot of folks are glad that GL won't be at the helm. And that like back in the day Lucas had folks around him that knew what they were doing, and weren't afraid to speak up. So that is what a lot of folks are going to ride this new hope on. I gotta think Disney is not going to f up SW, they gotta know how the prequels were received.

I will remain cautiously optimistic. Gonna be a fun next few years.

Exactly. To even work, if they're expecting to use the same cast, Disney's going to have to start with a 30 year gap.

with that being said, i for one am cautious to get my hopes up like i did with episode 1. however i think it cant be as bad as 1 - 3 because lucas ISNT writing/directing
