Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I think a good representation of bad GGI is the 501st in ROTS. Look closely at the right hands of each clone in this pic. The anatomical proportions of the wrist is off with the forearm. SO... yeah... CGI fails...

If I watched the movie everyday for a hundred years I would have never noticed that.

What do you do, watch it frame by frame looking for peculiarities?

Forget frame by frame of the wrists.

The entire image on the screen is cgi bloated.

The troopers are climbing steps that don't even match their sizes, the march movement doesn't make sense, yet climb they do.

The entire thing reeks of cheese. :lol

Just film real people dressed as troopers climbing real steps, is that so hard, I guess it's too much to ask for nowadays. :rotfl

Real steps, hell no, i'm too lazy a director, build it in post.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Also, instead of using a grand rendition of The Imperial March there (which I guess just makes too much sense) let's just rehash the same random musical cue cut from AOTC that we use like 2-3 other random times in AOTC & ROTS, including the dumb Kashyyk sequence. :slap

Seriously, could these movies have been any sloppier?

At some point I'm sure it came down to GL basically just tring to show off what he could do to his peers. The whole time they were probably laughing behind his back, either that or scratching their heads.

He built his own Death Star, he just needed a planet to blow up.

No... That pic has been up for 7 years noticed since then, just a great ref to what was discussed.

If GL really loved his Fans he would have put a ad out for the top cosplayers (Ref for height to match Temuera's) of the 501st Legion(s) and then you'd have better visual acuity then that what ya see on screen. Thing about ROTS well all the prequels was not enough location, I would have loved to see some filming on sight in Malaysia for Kashyyyk or some places like Russia for Mygeeto, Grand Canyon for Utapau, etc... what made the old star wars good was because George couldnt cheat at filming like he could now.

Ques of the music have been urky, tbh at the end of the AOTC that new majestic Republic (Imperial) March could have done wonders if John Williams had made the sound from that become light like it was when ya see the clones marching and then transcendo into the dark ominous classic Imperial March for the ROTS scene.

Realized that may have sounded confrontational, hope you took no offense at it, just amazed at what some people notice. Even though you werent the one to notice it first.

I always chuckle when the Battle Droids advance toward the Gungan shield during the climax of TPM. CLOMP CLOMP CLOMP as they dramatically march as if they are all walking on concrete instead of soft grass. :lol

:lol Another classic moment. Disney really can't do any worse.

They are just piss-poor films. Really and truly.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

They should include a box set of the PT & the SWHS (minus the awesome cartoon).

Birds of a feather.. :lol

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

GL/ILM got so wacky with the cgi that they were actually replacing, creating, erasing, rotating, stitching, flipping, inverting and god knows what else with shots that any credible filmaker would've just captured correctly from the start.

Nothing natural anymore with GL method of filmaking.

Don't worry, we'll fix it in post.

Here's something that's funny though---even with the ability to cut out actors and mesh things together, they couldn't fix the acting. They literally cut together different takes to try and use the best performance along with changing what they were doing and the acting was still bad.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

In the new trilogy, they should introduce new colors for lightsabers. Not the same green/red/blue. The purple( Mace Windu) and the Black (Pre Vizla) are very cool. So many colors to pick!

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

If there has to be a new color, I'd want yellow... a cool nod to the vintage Kenner Luke figure.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

The bridge part was a tad much but for me personally it never took me out of the film. I do understand how its a bit OTT for folks though.
I just know that deep down, sometimes TheJosh just wants to say, "You know what, I actually ****ing hate that ****ing scene! It was ****ing bull****. and I wanted to punch Peter Jackson in the nuts when I saw it!"

Let it out man. Will feel better if you do.

Josh's answer to this wil be:

"I didn't mind my anger so much, I think it was ok for me to punch PJ in the nuts even if others hated me doing that, It doesn't really bother me one bit what others think"

:yess: :rotfl :yess:
