You saying they have adamantium adhered to their bones, and a healing factor? :lol

I guess it's possible, they are miners. :rotfl

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I just know that deep down, sometimes TheJosh just wants to say, "You know what, I actually ****ing hate that ****ing scene! It was ****ing bull****. and I wanted to punch Peter Jackson in the nuts when I saw it!"

Let it out man. Will feel better if you do.

There is one scene in ROTK that I don't really care for. As a whole I don't get too worked up. There is just too much goodness in the movies for me to do so and I have the books. So what might be an issue never is much if an issue.

I also hate the bird crap on Radagast.

:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl

Josh's answer to this wil be:

"I didn't mind my anger so much, I think it was ok for me to punch PJ in the nuts even if others hated me doing that, It doesn't really bother me one bit what others think"

:yess: :rotfl :yess:

:lol

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

He used the word "hate!"

Hate leads to suffering! :lol

Speaking of ROTK. That was one very long film, that I was able to sit through the entirety without even needing or thinking to go to the bathroom. Never got bored. Just enjoyed it and was so immersed into the world and the story. Enraptured. Saw it three times like that.

I'm truly hoping the new Star Wars can give me that feeling...

I hear that. :rock

I hope Abrams shifts away from his Star Trek tendencies. The action stuff is all fine and good, but really shouldn't overshadow the dramatic elements IMO. That's one thing I think Peter Jackson understands quite well. Star Trek 2 ultimately felt like a Disney theme park attraction.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Agreed, and if VII is like the latest action Trek, I guess I'll be like all the other old fogies and always have the OT...

Nope. They're just that awesome. all they have is beer and beards, and stubborness.. and its all tehy need.

It's the stubborness that makes them allmost unbeatable.

They can even climb up or down a 100ft cliff face, with only 50 feet of rope.

I really liked the balance in "Super 8." That movie gives me hope. And he's directing, not writing it. Toy Story 3 was a great return to a beloved franchise after a long period of being dormant. Arndt can hopefully make it work. We shall see.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I think a good representation of bad GGI is the 501st in ROTS. Look closely at the right hands of each clone in this pic. The anatomical proportions of the wrist is off with the forearm. SO... yeah... CGI fails...
AnakinWithClones.jpg

The cost of doing this on a computer to building a set out of tons of plywood, paint and plaster. The cost of building at least a dozen Clone uni's and hiring actors to perform the scene.

Lucas chose the worse time to penny pinch, when the prequels needed to be accepted and not done on the cheap.

Why?

Safeguarding the family fortune?

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Tbh I know people who can build full clone armor for over $1000 and like I said, if ya had people from the 501st they probably would have spent their own money just to know they were in a Star Wars movie. GL underestimates his Fans...

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I just hope Disney don't try to get new agey on us. They seem to be doing everything right so far, casting will speak volumes. My daughter's name is Jaina,(not a EU freak just thought it was a nice name) and she's really hoping they put that character in the films. I personally have mixed feelings about it, but wouldn't mind it at all as that EU was well done IMO.

No matter what fans are gonna go apeshyyt when stuff starts to leak etc. 2014 is gonna be a gas lol!

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

It'll be like midnight madness back in 1999.. only this time it'll be mobile device / social media style. :lol

He doesn't care much about money, he has it setup that when he dies his fortune goes to charity, and like half of the money from the Lucasfilm sale went to charity as well.

In any case, still the problem with the prequels wasn't the effects, it was the script.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

It might sound a little shallow, but I could rank the prequels as one of my largest Entertainment disappointments as an adult. I was expecting something entirely different something fresh new and reminiscent of the greatest trilogy ever. I even went to that horrible waterboy movie to see the preview for episode 1. I don't think Disney can do anything nearly as bad at what George Lucas produced. there is so much bad in those prequels I can't even start to dissect it, seems like everything that was told in the original trilogy was thrown out the window. Yoda using physical violence, how to force are microbes biological in the body. Anyhow I hope these are going to be a makeup from Disney.

sent from my R2 units?

The Plinkett reviews document every problem I ever had with the prequels. In future I'm just going to get really lazy and point people to those if they care to know my opinion of the PT.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

as problematic as the PT may have been, i know my life has benefited from them being there rather than having no Star Wars films at all. reach in and just let the ten year old within flourish... don't allow the eighty year old keep complaining about the kids on the lawn.

at least the PT's issues were somewhat interestingly organic with the best of intention... good or bad, there was a lot of heart... there was insight into an artist's process... an evolution (or devolution) we are privy to... i think the story behind the story is captivating (George falling victim to many of the technologies he helped create while losing sight of the story along the way)... it is like watching grandpa with a hot younger woman... not as interesting intellectually, but not hard on the eyes either. perhpas grandpa figures this out... perhaps she takes him for everything... but there is value in still having grandpa alive and living out loud.
