Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Even with the midiclorians and Jar Jar, TPM is still easily the best told, most faithful SW prequel.

AOTC and ROTS are hack jobs.

i agree.

i don't have a problem with Midiclorians...i think they add to the OT. the force is science based but 20 years of Empirical rule has left it in the dust. it is now faith based... a myth... it has always been there, it is just up to the individual to believe. Luke helping his father find redemption had nothing to do with Midiclorians… it had nothing to do with prophecy… the Jedi succumbed to these ideas and fell. Luke could not beat the Emperor… it was the unexpected love in Anakin's heart that beat the Emperor that only a son or daughter could ignite.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

At least AOTC and ROTS had a main character

Not sure that makes a movie any better or worse. Who is the main character of the Avengers? Who is the main character of Iron Man II? Which one is better?

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

George Lucas doesn't even understand what a human being is. :lol

I wouldn't trust him with any kids I never want to have. :lol

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

on the blu ray release i kinda wish george would have replaced the sarlaac monster with a sharknado, that woulda been hella awesome, :lecture.

One day when I have kids I will make it my mission to ensure that they never watch the PT. :lol

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Not to be all whatever, but technically, Anakin had become Darth Vader by that point.

Yeah.....no.

Vader is and always shall be OT Darth Mother ****ing Vader. Not a ****** bag with dark makeup.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

All this prequel hate in this thread. You know where all this comes from? Everyone's passion and love for the OT, which is an amazing thing. Every one of you holds those movies so dear that you will be that vigorous and spirited in your comparisons.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I love the OT but I strongly dislike the PT because they're just bad movies. I wasnt expecting it to live up to the OT because it just couldn't, not for me. So I gave it a lot of slack going in. They just suck. And I don't like at all with what they did with a lot of the mythos. But that's aside from why I think they're bad movies.

I think most of us who grew up with SW were just hoping for more films at least as good as ROTJ (which while a blast was far from a masterpiece) or ideally at least somewhat close in quality. Unfortunately that wasn't the case.

I agree, but nostalgia for childhood (for those who saw these as kids) does tend to wear rose colored glasses. :)

From what I've been seeing and hearing from Lucasfilm about these new movies, they seem to have found those glasses and put them back on. :)

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Nothing ever would have lived up to the original masterpieces.

Its kind of like loving a band and then 15 years later out of retirement they release a new album. You just aren't going to love it like you did before even if it was really good.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

PT were so poorly conceived and made that it has nothing to do with nostalgia.

They just suck period even if the OT never existed and these were his first SW movies.

He wrote a Jar Jar stepping on p o o p scene and characters with mexican accents.

There's tons more of that crap.

And when that band comes out of retirement and releases a new album that's really bad you'll still have diehard fans claiming it was "just as good" as their old stuff. ;)
