Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I want Episode VII to feature Greedo, Tarkin, TK-421, Jabba, Piett, Salacious Crumb and a one-armed wampa! Make it happen Abrams!

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Bringing Palpatine back would be just as dumb as bring Vader back and for the exact same reason. It negates the end of the OT.

No thanks. The new movies need a new thread. Not recycled dead ones.

Yeah WE know that, but do JJ and company know THAT?:slap

How could they not? Everything seems to indicate that they do... we'll see I guess. I have a feeling the production team will be playing this as close to their chests as possible for as long as possible.

If they bring Palpatine back then I assume Disney is looking at SW the way they do Marvel movies: Have a specific threat that is neutralized in each movie while the main bad guys live to fight in another sequel. Apparently Palpatine might be the new Loki and the DSII was just another tesseract or frost-giant-planet-destroying-thingy.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I'm fine with a villain that's there through more than one movie, like Vader in IV-VI, and would have rather had Maul in I-III than go to Dooku and Grievous. But I don't want to see Palpatine or Vader again.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I truly think Vader WILL be back in some form, maybe not the original Anakin Vader but another one- he is so iconic to SW the temptation will be too great them to resist..but they should

i don't agree... bring Palpatine back with his pre Emperor appearance as a force ghost is what the ST needs to capture the continuity and vibe of the OT. think of him as Obi Wan's bookend from ESB / ROTJ... there in all his blue glowing glory to inspire / influence the next generation of darkness.

with only 20 some odd years have passing, what else can be as interesting and as threatening as the voice of dark experience?

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Maybe we find out that Palpatine's soul was stored in some sort of device or piece of jewelry that corrupts whoever possesses it.

Yeah, hopefully its a ring thats indestructable unless an Ewok walks it to a specific volcano and throws it in, truly destroying the Emperor once and for all.

... and it is found by a jawa who passes it on to his nephew who then embarks on a mission to destroy it in the fires of Mustfaar.

Dammit I think we are on to something! :yess:

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I remember the PM trailer at the cinema that was a great trailer, hope they dont show to much in the trailer for this, like they do with star trek.

looking forward to this, but Mark and carrie need to sort them selfs out.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

If thats true (and someone has already posted this rumor not 3 posts above yours) I think it would be as a flashback or some such. Not as a new character nor as a clone.

Could it be potentially as a force ghost? They did the same with Obi Wan in ESB. Why can't Palpatine come back to haunt someone to the dark side and train them in the ways of the Sith?

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Yes they can.
