Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

I don't think Luke was at full potential on Tatooine.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Becuase by the time he left, and returned in ROTJ, he HAD conqured it. all that left was that he had to confront Vader. Confronting, and defeating the REAL vader trumps an illusion in a cave that may, or may not have been yoda messing with his mind.

He was only done with Dagobah because Yoda told him he was. He didn't actually overcome the challenges in the swamp himself. It's like playing football against a team that is kicking your *** and suddenly they forfeit halfway through the game. Yeah you "won," but you didn't beat them.

You could also say that without yoda there to direct the events, Dagobah wouldn't be a challange. Dagobah itself is a bit mysterious, but there were too many coinicedences taking place for me to belive it was all just luck, and not yoda using his vast power to help direct events.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Why wouldn't Luke become fat, he's had enough time to have trained his successors and sit back to enjoy the profits of his hard work. The same could be said for Leia to a point depending where her future has taken her, which would give Han a good reason to drop her....

Han Solo: Star Wars: Episode VII (pre-title sequence) said:
Look Princess if i'd wanted to marry a fat old hag i'd have taken off with Yarna when the Hutt's offered her to me for a shipment of spice

Then when Ep VII starts we could have Han, Chewie and Lando racing around the galaxy getting up to all kinds of trouble and dodgy dealing. Luke and Leia on the Imperial Capital (i don't see why it has to be Corusant again) having rebuilt both the Republic's goverment and the Jedi order to ensure peace. Then the **** hits the fan as the 20 Jedi Knights trained by Luke and Leia are assassinated by a new threat to galactic peace. The only remaining Jedi being Luke, Leia and Leia and Han's twins both of which are not fully trained. Luke could then finish their training in safety on Tatooine at the Lars farm whilst Leia searches with C3P0 for Han.

Oops just revealed the plot as told to me by a guy on Facebook call Harry Cazdam :lol:lol:lol

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

I don't think Luke was at full potential on Tatooine.

He was at the same stage as Obi-Wan was at the beginning of TPM, it was the way he destroyed Jabba's criminal empire and the ending the Sith's rule that saw him at the pinacle of his potential. From there on it was about him passing on what he had learnt and rebuilding the Jedi order. We can only presume until its revealed that he 1st trained Leia (1 becomes 2) and then they each took an apprentice and it multiplied hence forth.

But whatever would be thrown at them between RotJ and Ep VII the most important thing was to make sure the Jedi order returned, it was the legacy of Anakin Skywalker that they simply couldn't ignore.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Depending on what they keep from the novels, Luke didn't just take what he learned from yoda, he also went out and searched for remnants of teachings... it took him a long time to find any. He also taught several students at once. not just a single apprentice at a time. It was more of a " mentor and his diciples" concept.

Will they keep that? who knows. But going to the more fluid teaching seems to "flow" better with the evolution of the force from a scientific, understood thing, to a spiritual, mystical entity as it's presented in the OT.

Only seen him in the first episode of Girls, I think he abused his character girlfriend in that. He comes off creepy, which I suppose is good for a villain :dunno

So Vader with Asperger's then?

Whip it, JJ!

Whip it real good . . .

He looks just like the guy that took the Ferrari on a joyride in Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

Seriously, though, he strikes me as a hipster d-bag and I think it's because I'm genetically predisposed to hate anyone involved with the show Girls. I hope they either put him in heavy Ian McDiarmid level makeup or give him a helmet cause I don't wanna see that face in Episode VII.

Maybe by "in the same vein as Vader" they mean the way they ruined that character by casting a hipster d-bag? :lol

So a Nien Numb alien will be the great villain for the new trilogy. . .interesting.

Its an obvious choice. Its got those black eyes, like a doll's eyes. When he rips into ye, those eyes they roll back into his head and he....dun't seem to be livin'...

:exactly: Maybe Nien Numb's "Yeuh, huk! huk!" to Lando when they blew up the Death Star in RotJ was Sullustan for, "I'm going to rip off your ****ing face you pirate, Rebel bastard!"

I'm not fluent, but I'm pretty sure that's what he said.
