Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Wasn't this a fitting end to the characters though?

Man I just love Yub Nub so much more than the boring and sedate World Music ending.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

:lol

Agreed. I purposely sought out that one instead of the other.

Word. And then you've got young Anakin's "I'm going to eat you for dinner" creepy stare and the editing out of Luke's little head nod farewell and its just one more botched "special" edition alteration.

.. My BIGGEST hope, is that they don't try to do some " gritty modern Grimdark Nolanesque" crap with it.
We've already got " i'm so goth i crap bats" coming out of warner brothers. don't need more of that

Along the same lines, I don't want any goofy, Gen-ADHD **** like ASM. The prequels had enough of that. :lol

Both good points :lol

Maybe the solution is to make a really dark, depressing film. But fill it with so many bright and distracting lens flares that you don't notice it so much.

We never got the closure we really needed. . .

I was really hoping they would have gone with this alternative instead:

Ultimately, they need to shove as many dead characters into that scene as possible--Boba Fett, Darth Maul, younglings, decapitated sand people, etc. That's the only we we'll get true closure, and I think Lucas realizes that.

Maul standing on two hands. :lol

There was actually a similar scene at the end of Lost, where all the dead are waiting for Dr. Shepard.

They should have the word "Dignity" floating as a shimmering Force ghost in the background.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

You know something that *might* be cool is if they did like a Cast Away or Spider-Man 1 and filmed part of the movie with Luke being reintroduced to conflict as a fattened peace time Jedi Master and then when the **** hits the fan and his fellow knights that are in their prime are decimated he goes back to Dagobah by himself and starts training like Rocky in Russia. Then break filming for six months so that Hamill can KICK *** and actually get in great shape again, then resume filming. The completed film can show him all pudgy and starting to train on Dagobah, then cut away to other stuff, cut back to an exterior of Dagobah as we see his X-Wing leaving the system, then it lands in the midst of bad guys. The cockpit raises and he emerges all lean and mean and just starts going to town on everyone.

Hamill doesn't need to kick @ss. Guinness didn't kick @ss and SW was successful. Hamill is also the same age as Guinness was at the time, 62.
