Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

I clicked it. It's just a bunch of extras and some set pieces. Why do they say there are "spoiler" pictures? I consider spoilers to be plot related. These pictures are enough to get me excited but not enough to ruin anything other than this movie takes place on a desert planet.

Moisture vaporators are likely to be found on other desert worlds with civilization, but this is most likely Tatooine because why the heck wouldn't they include it in this new trilogy? I really like what I see. It's similar but different from the Mos Eisley and Mos Espa scenes we've already seen before.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

I think its Tatooine and maybe Luke is an old hermit like Ben, after losing his father he retreated back home to where he and Lars grew up. I like that idea but it also makes Luke weak, could he maybe have a training center there also??

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Those pics have to be fake. The only pics that would be legit are actors in front of a green screen. :)

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Glad to see they're at least still using practical effects over CGI.

You never know, some people may not want to see or hear anything from this movie until it's released.

Here's a leaked picture, I'm not even putting a spoiler label on it.....deal with it!

Yeah, it's pretty hilarious to read all the comments online about the TMZ pictures showing a return to practical sets and being a big relief after Georges CGI fests.
The prequels had some huge sets and loads of unconvincing rubber monsters. Nothing new so far!

Digital environment, set extension is fine, it's the fully CG cartoon land that I hope JJ is avoiding with this.

It's funny to read the posts about "Yay no bluescreen!"---the sky is the largest bluescreen int he world. Most likely they will be having huge set extensions to that location with lots of other CGI elements.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

More than likely. But at least it won't feel as if I'm watching a Pixar movie.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

The Tatooine scenes were among the only in the Prequels that had extensive use of sets, props, and extras. The rest all felt fake and artificial in comparison.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

I see nothing in those pics to rejoice over or brood over. :dunno

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Yea your right. Saw the some of episode 2 and nothing seemed real in that movie. I liked three but man was that film so CG heavy it kinda hurts the final fight in some ways but thats just me.

Naboo had lots of sets and on-location shooting, Coruscant had tons of sets (Jedi Temple, Senate, Padme's apartment). Other places still had sets, Geonosis, Mustafar, The Invisible Hand from ROTS

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Even AOTC was shot on location in Italy and Spain (Naboo), Tunisia (Tatt) as well as on massive practical sets in UK.
So far, this is nothing new.
