Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Better than the PT is still all I'm prepared to say at this point. That's a statement of how crap I think the PT is that I'm willing to say a film that isn't even finished yet is better than them.

True but sadly as you said no big challenge to beat those ......

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Indeed - although overkill is just that.

Hopefully if they go there again, it's done intelligently to take the story to an interesting place, not lazily use familiar locales to replace good story telling.

THAT is what scares me the most- hoping nostalgia will replace a great script

We are gonna get a glimpse of Hamill, Fisher or Ford soon in costume and with full beards, having a ciggy or coffee outside the studio door.
It's coming, it's coming...
I'm most looking forward to the beard on fisher. Sounds like the most innovateive thing so far.

I did a photoshop a while back.
It wasn't received well..
:lol

(Everything in this movie will have beard)

Correct, they also shot in Madrid, for AOTC as well as Italy at Lake Como.

There is so little logic in your highlighting, quoting and general knowledge I find it difficult to respond to your post in any way. Except perhaps to point out that the baby Luke Tatooine scenes were in Revenge of The Sith and not AOTC.
And the post that you quoted was actually correcting your comment that AOTC was shot entirely in Fox OZ with some minor London pick-ups.

There were large sets built for all the prequels. Go read a making of book or google some stuff. And all the prequels used real locations.
Particularly TPM and ATOC.

Bye now.
:wave

Your comments are idiotic at best, YOU claimed that large sets were constructed in the UK for AOTC, just which studio was this :dunno

SOMEONE ELSE claimed the Tatooine scene at the end of ROTS with baby Luke was filmed during AOTC so again your moronic response is just that moronic :slap

Ive already said i was not disagreeing with what was said about the locations, but i wasn't referring to that just the actual scenes shot on the sound stages something you fail to understand :impatient:. Sound stages, if the on set web cam wasn't fixed looking in the wrong direction were for the most part a green screen set especially :lecture

Some people really need to do their homework before they're let near the internet:lecture:lol

Someone posted this on IGN...

I don't know if it's true, but there ya go.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Both of the full size Falcon set pieces from the OT had their own unique exterior details. Looking at the side panel details sitting on the floor I see a lot of 32" miniature parts that have been scaled up. This just might be the most accurate full size Falcon yet. This is going to look amazing on screen.

An artist named Jason Eaton created an xwing based on McQuarrie and Johnston's early design. This is not a production model but it's very close to what they are building. This model, like the new full size xwing, are both based on Joe Johnston's sketches from 1976. I love the progression of the x-wing. It's going to be great to see this finally fly.

I'm a happy geek right now.

Thank the maker we're finally discussing X-Wings and Falcon instead of STAP Droids and Buzz Droids.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Let's say JJ pulls it off. EP7 is a huge success, both with fans and the casual public. (prequels bad taste washed away)

Does Lucas get jealous?

Reason i ask is cause i can almost see it. I remember him saying somewhere that ep5 "was actually the worst one" or something to that effect. Probably due to Kurtz's involvement.

So is Lucas happy that his franchise is restored? Or does he almost try to take credit citing he gave them the "outlines"?

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

I'm sure he wouldn't be able to help feeling at least a little jealous if a large chunk of the fanbase that rejected his recent creative efforts embraced someone else for "improving" the franchise. That's human nature.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

The better this movie looks the more tempted George will be to swoop in and try to take credit for something. Expect at some point a great wailing of fanboys who will suddenly think Lucas was a key part of the creative process on this film.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

HAHA maybe Lucas directs the final one as a send off.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

It won't even matter if it's true. Disney might just want a PR moment where George gives his blessing to the whole thing and talks about how he threw all of these ideas out there so it's a real Star Wars movie. The internet will burn and pillage itself.

You jumped into a conversation about practical shooting on the prequels, without understanding the nature of the conversation, and stated that AOTC was shot in Fox Oz with a small pick-up in London. We were talking about green screen versus practical and how much was set based in the prequels, not which studio was used. There were loads of real locations and huge sets used on the Prequels, just like we are seeing now with Episode VII. Now, I'm done answering you.
Do me the same honor.

The Baby Luke scene was indeed filmed during AOTC. It was a secretive bit of filming tgat GL did whilst in Tunisia. That is fact.

Yup... It 100% was.
The final version in Sith looked pretty digital though, so they either added a digital matte painting or replaced the backgrounds. But Rick and George spoke openly about having an ATOC second unit shoot one "important" scene in Tunisia for Sith.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

That X-Wing is a thing of beauty. It's amazing how it's instantly recognizable as being an X-Wing and yet the differences set it apart to be something new we've never seen on screen. And yet it's retro and familiar due to McQuarrie's concept art. I wonder if they'll look as beat up and worn out as that model does. I think it'd be neat to see some old X-Wings flying alongside of the these. Sorta like BSG had both the Mark II and the Mark VII Vipers flying side by side?
