I need to watch Avengers again, but while I liked it I don't think its anything that requires multiple viewings.
I'm hoping E7 is something more on the scale of LOTR where I felt I needed to see it 2,3,4 times in the theater just to see everything and appreciate the nuance and character design, just like most SW films including the PT.
Personally, even a film at the quality of Avengers will be a disappointment for me.

Yeah, not that either. I want it to be a film I WANT to see 2-4 times for all the right reasons and not be BORED to death if I saw it a 4th time.
I'm not bashing any of the Marvel films, but not a one did I feel I needed to see again in the theater. But could be just that I am not a big comic geek like I am with SW or LOTR where each one a week later I was dragging my wife to them again.

I thought I made it clear that I was specifically referring to the Avengers end battle vs. DOTM's end battle. IM's finale was weaker than the first TF's finale so I was prepared for the same to hold true with the latest films.

Maybe his fall in Coruscant left him scarred so that he has to wear an eyepatch as he tries to assemble the last remnants of the Jedi Order to face a new threat.

I think one aspect that made ANH and ESB so great compared to the other films is the human element, as in the characters (save for the cantina and Executor bounty hunters) were 95% human.
It really gave the fantasy universe a more mature, relatable aspect which starting with ROTJ the films have really moved away from. I don't see them going back to the human/alien ratio of the first two films but it'd really be nice if they did.

I agree--I don't think it's a coincidence that ESB is the most human of the series and also the best.
And I guess SLJ isn't younger than Hamill, but there's no way Windu survived into the time period of Episode VII.

Hmm. I don't know about that.
The human element came from the fact the sets and models and costumes were human made instead of computer generated.
No one had a hard time relating to 3P0, R2 or even Chewbacca.

ROTJ and even most of TPM had real sets, costumes, and models so it definitely isn't that. It was the fact that the conflict and primary interactions were all human vs. human with a little alien spice (Chewie, Yoda) thrown in to remind us of the fantastic nature of the galaxy.

I disagree. Yoda and Luke interaction is as "primary interaction" as they come in ESB and it seemed genuine enough.
I don't think the Jabba scenes are lacking anything because he or his henchmen are alien.
Its all about quality and execution not whether x amount of characters are human.

Yes. It did work that one time. Han's quips to Chewie were funny too. But from ROTJ onward they did prove that there can be too much of a good thing.
The Death Star battles, Hoth attack, and drama on Cloud City far outweighed anything involving ewoks, gungans, skiff guards, clones or battle droids. Of those the Sarlacc Pit battle was the best but that's because those aliens were the most "human" of the lot.
Or course if you disagree and prefer aliens and droids and whatnot that's fine, I'm just partial to the drama and how it was presented in ANH and ESB and noticed the greater and greater detachment to "human" characters as the series went on.
